I have been doing a search of all the threads on here with regards the Memory Stick Jacket that can apparently be used to make the P800 read regular Sony Memory Sticks, this got me thinking about how much memory we could have in the P800. Just wondering if there are any physical limitaions to he hardware of this phone that would prevent the use of 256mb+ cards whether they are DUOS or not (as I can't really imagine Sony producing any cards bigger than this). At the moment, memory seems to be the only limitation to this phone.

is that only because that is the biggest that has ever been tried? I remember once upon a time when people said that 64mb was the biggest it was capable of, only due to the fact that that was the biggest capacity avaliable.

If im not mistaken i think that i read somewhere on the mobility world site that the p800 can theoretically support larger Memory sticks Duo's eg 512
i suppose if anyone has a larger MS say 512 they could try it in their phone just for testing purposes even though it sticks out a bit it should still work
am i way off base?
perhaps you need latest firmware etc who knows??? anyone??

As far as i know the P8 accepts 128 as a max. Normal memorysticks only came up to 256 as basic models, then larger sizes were memorystick pro (utilizing a pages system, multiple 128 sticks in one) Theoretically, the phone COULD accept memorystick pro ( if a firmware upgrade allowed it) as the phone would read the card as 4 128s (well, for a 512)

I think it can support bigger ms duos.. Because in the p800 whitepapers it is mentioned that the msduos have a roadmap up to 1GB.
I know this does not HAVE to mean that the p800 supports it but I think it will....

well that puts me in a difficult situation. I am thinking about getting a 128Mb card due to the fact that I am no longer using my p800, but if a 256Mb + could/is going to be launched then I would be better off waiting a few weeks.

It may well support larger duos(theyd be ideal for me, ive filled my 128) but all documents regarding compatibility with P800 state that 128 is a limit. Probably because of access time. My 128 takes ages to become fully readable

From reading this thread:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=19153&forum=15

it would seem that 128MB is as far we can go...

I know I am going to get flamed by posting this but I have done a search but cant find any -
Are there an UK shops that sell Duos bigger than 64mb? I say that because I have only ever found them in Jessops but they only go up to 64mb and are £70 lol.I dont really want to buy it online (unless the saving is too much to miss out on) and especially not from Egay, although there are some at £55 buy it now, but with £8.50 postage, whats that all about!?!?!?!
Cheers Guys

Sorry mate - but why the aversion to online shopping? I've had no problems thus far...
