Well let's hope they have a good batch of t610's and none with the screen flicker, hiss problem, and bluetooth crackling!!!!! I'm going to hold off for some time before I even consider a t610. my t68i and t300 are doing just fine for now. maybe i'll even pass up the t610 for the z1010 and 3G!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt the US will embrace UMTS like the rest of the world so... probably no z1010 here...

Well, I don't know about that. I read somewhere that Ericsson and T-Mobile had some type of agreement. Here is the link.

We might get there some day. Personally I am waiting for the Z1010. My wife prefers clamshell phones and I kind of like the phone. Call me crazy but by reading the specs of the Z1010 it sounds like a mini P800 in a clamshell.

yes, but since there are no UMTS netwroks in the US, many of the wonderful things on the Z1010 won't work... i.e., the video phone.

*edit* forgot to mention it is only GSM 900/1800, UMTS 1900, so no worky in US.

actually, I lied. I just read today that AT&T is supposed to have UMTS rolled out in 4 markets by the end of 2004.

My brother got the T610 last week from t-mobile. It doesn't hiss but the screen flickers, thats just a common problem with the STN screens anyway. Bluetooth seems a little flakey though.

I will buy a UMTS phone if T-mobile will overlay it on their network. I will not buy it from another company. So far, the only 2 cell phones I have been completely happy with have been my Nextel, and T-Mobile.

OK, lets get back to the T610 topic. Are there any good deals for upgrading my handset to the T610?

Actually I remember reading an article somewhere that DOCOMO from JAPAN which is partners with ATT.(correct me if I'm wrong) is paying ATT to roll out 3G in the U.S. sometime during 2004.Docomo really wants other countries to catch up with Japan so that everyone uses a general format, kind of like GSM.I really hope so.We will probably skip like 10 generations of phone if that happens. There is already private testing going on in some parts of the U.S.,(Texas,Florida,Southern CA,and Upstate NY)
