IR Remote Problems |

Hi guys just downloaded the demo for IR remote.I can get it to work with my TV DVD etc but only at a range of 2cm so do I have a duff IR port cos I cant belive that they even bothered with this app if this is the standard range
any help or comments

try it out on different brand of tv's or vcrs in ur m8's house or in a tv shop. you might find that the tv you have is very sensitive to ir signals. if you have no luck on other tv's i am afraid you may have dodgy ir led's on your mobile. did you try ir with a pc or another mobile to send data and see if the range was any better. mabey someone else might have the same problem and have an answer for you cos its another handy feature on the p800. it wont ever be as good as a proper tv remote but you can use it up 6 feet away. it all depends on the tv and if your beam hits the target directly. i just remembered ir doesnt work well with a lot of sunlight hitting the ir on your tv so close curtians and try it in a darker room, it may make a difference.

My experience is weird. What I do is, if the IR Remote won't work at the distance I would like to use it in, I go really close to the TV and control it a bit then when I move back gradually, it works perfectly already! Odd but it works.

Just an update I tried the IR on 2 VCRs and 2TVs with same result and then tried it with my girlfriends P800 and got the same results and yet these two phones can beam files between over more than a metre could it be the demo version its just im loathed to buy the full version if its not gonna work
