I usually have a problem with my "OK", "Back", "C", "1", & "2" Keys. They have to be pressed in a bit harder then the other bunch of keys. If i press them lightly i am tend to miss them sometimes. This especially happens with the Back and the clear key. I have tried everythin, from a master restet, to fomating the internal drive, to calibrating the screen to the default factory settings, but i still has this problem. If i press them a bit hard they work fine else the phone doesnt register them.

I took it to the SE service center yesterday, and they changed the flip for me. I still continued to have the same problem with the new flip and the people at the service center told me this was normal. I dint agree to it and asked them to show me another P800 as i wanted to try it out. When i tried another P800, even a light touch it would register the keys, therefore i argued that it was not normal with my phone. Since it was closing time, they told me to leave the phone and to check with them today. When i called the service center today, the lady tells me, "Some of the P800 are like that and they have to be pressed a little hard in order for the keys to register". I told her i am not comfortable with it and i want it either to be repaired or replaced. She told there is nothin that can be done about this and they also cant replace the phone "Since its NORMAL for some P800 to function like that and theres nothin that can be done about it" I told her i will not come 2 pick the phone until it is fixed properly or replaced, and insisted to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor told me he would check with the regional office if it can be replaced, and till now i have no call.

I just wanted to check if this is really a problem, or am i just being too fussy, and dont i have a right to get an normal working P800, and if there was anythin i could do about it, if they disagreed to replace the phone?

Did anyone else have a smiliar problem and if so how did you go about it?
Thanks.

Never had that problem. They just don't want to replace it, because that would cost them money. So they make up these lies, when it's a faulty phone/flip that many others have it so thats why you have to live with it. But what if it was a car where the door didn't really close when slamming it hard? I know all carfactories would want it back and then give you a new one. I know the price is different and so on, but the idea is the same.

Call SE and tell them about it and say that you are very upset about this.

I had exactly the same problem, but mine was solved with a re-calibration on the screen. I had to do this a few times till I got it right. As you have done this I suggest just try it a few times, you never know.

I had the same problem with my p800, although it wasn't quite as bad as you described. My problem was solved when I added a brando screen protector to the phone. It lifted the touch screen surface up just a little bit higher.

Well ill wait to see how i get the phone back. Else ill try to add a screen protector and see how it goes.

Its kind of hard to adjust to this feature, because when u drive you usually tend to dial a number without seeing the phone. That is when i come across this problem the most. And worst is when u see a mistake you try to clear and the key doesnt work at times, so it distracts your eyes from the road.

And i dont see any reason i should adjust to it, because if it works fine on SOME p800, then they should either replace or fix mine. Why should we suffer with SE design faults.

pawanr, you paid a lot of money for this mobile, dont let anyone fob you off with some bulsh1t story that some p800s are like this and others are not. it sounded like a re-cailbration would have cured it but all the keys work if pressed harder than others so the pins are hitting the right spot on the screen. as you have tried different flips this makes me think that the outer grey plastic case has a flaw in that the further up the screen you go i.e. "* 7 4 1 OK" the case is rising up ever so slightly causing the upper buttons (OK) to be slightly higher than the lower (*) buttons. it could simply be that a batch of plastic outer cases were made slightly to thick at a certian point. even 1 or 2 mm out in the manufacture of the case from the base to the top could cause the top buttons on the filp not to hit the screen. as i said you paid good money for this so dont let them treat you like some dumb ass. tell them to sort it out or else....................

I know a few people already replied the same solution, but just to show how many of us experience(d) this problem...

I had the exact same problem. All the other keys were working fine except the top keys. I had to press extra-harder for them to work. I was actually scared I might break the screen. All it took was a recalibration of the screen (in my case, reset to default) and everything's perfect.

I have tried calbrating the sccreen to default a 1000 times.

Anyways i got my phone back today, its yet the same, SE people said they have changed the LCD and put a new one with a new flip and that is the best they could do. I think the results are same as before, except now i have a total new scracthless screen.

Its still sometimes that i have to press those particular keys hard but i doono now if i can do something about it

I just took a screen protector of my ipaq and modified it for the P800, and now the problem seems to go. Everythin works so perfectly. Each key registers even with a light touch.

Now im just thinking to leave it like that and be happy.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I doono if its worth it to complain to se, its ofcourse some fault somewhere on their side
