Bonjour!

You need to install Mobile Phone Monitor on your PC.

Also, you need some transfer sofdtware like SendFile (see christersson.org)

@pompier
welcome to esato !

there are 3 kinds of cables: a) serial data cable; b) serial service cable; c) usb data cable

what you need are the data cables. but if you got infrared, then the cables are optional because you can send the objects via Ir instead without any need for additional software.

if you're having problems with MPM, which SE software and others like sendfile depends upon. try fMA (eflame.com/fma) instead. (we also have a fMA discussion thread here.

----
i've been told that the Babel Fish Translator does a nifty translation sometimes. here's the result in French for my post above:

how was it?

EDIT
if your phone is not detected, chech the your com port settings if they've been properly configued.

start>settings>phone monitor options. go to com ports tab, enable/disable the appropriate ports.

hmm ... well, they work differently. the service cable is used for flashing the phone while the data cable is for making your phone communicate with the PC.

look at this page on how to modify a service cable to a data cable

did you get your cable from ? if so, that should be a data cable unless it's not working right (or your serial/usb port) is not working right.

R2F is kinda old, I suggest you bring your phone to the nearest service point for a firmware upgrade.

I'm using bluetooth, sometimes IR but once I did install connection
between T68i and PC via data cable. I don't remember exactly but I think that it works for me after starting some SE program like "Phone Settings". If connection is OK, program will ask you for name of the phone and name for your SIM card. Names can be anything. After that
everything was OK. I didn't help you much but I think you are not far away from solution.

Hi guys... I have recently purchased a T68i pack from SFR (France-nope, I am not french) which comes with both handsfree set and serial data cable... Although it was very easy to install all the software to my computer (btw, I am using XP operating system) I went through hell for my computer to recognize my T68i. However, after searching esato forum and all other sites available on the internet I finally succeeded.

The only trick is to go to the control panel of your operating system and click on "reserve COM1 or COM2 (depending on to which COM port you already connected your mobile)" then restart your computer and voila! Following this simple procedure you can start using all the software that comes with the package.

It is weird that this information is not given ANYWHERE !!!! It seems like people wants to keep it as a secret!!

I hope this solves your problem.

@waterlord41

I use MPM, SendFile, Backup etc.

Sendfile *sometimes* doesn't seem to find the phone. Backup *always* finds the phone, and then afterwards, SendFile will too, no problem.

I think it always works if I boot the PC (Win XP), run SendFile, and *then* connect my T68i.

Also, I've just checked my COntrol Panel, and COM1/COM2 are enabled, but *not* reserved - I'll do that now, just for fun!

Steven.

It is not a secret (or anything like that) because not everyone uses the same settings. I don't reserved a my 1st com port for the t68, so I don't use that config at all.
