just curious how much this costs in different countries/with different operators...

in israel, with orange-israel, it's about 2.3 US cents (i guess that's about 2.75 of whatever the euro is subdivided into) per SMS (including tax) for sending, free to receive.

It's 0.12 US$ here, or 10 Eurocents...

sorry for the previous blank msg, clicked by mistake...

those of you who have a certain number of messages included in your plan, how much are you paying for the plan itself? here, there is no monthly fee, you only pay per usage (minutes of outgoing air time + number of SMSs)...

thanks again for the info

OK the Genie contract mentioned above is a GOOD DEAL. If you can put up with Genie themselves. Although all problems I've had have been resolved, it does take some time!

They give 600 free text per billing month, then 10p each after that. There are 2 tariffs available. Either 50mins off peak a day or 100mins anytime per month. These are only available on standard rate calls.
Both of these include the free text and free unlimited wap ("normal personal use"), and cost £20 per month.

They also have some 'free' phones with these contracts at the moment, but my T68 cost £190
