This is only rumor, but I will try to get confirmation...

A very trustworth source told me that he had seen the P800 being sold in Malaysia with a SD slot instead of a DUO slot. Apparently looked factory new. From traveling over there, I do know they are #1 at modifying and adding hardware to anything, so it wouldn't surprise me. I will try to see if it is something that can be sold as a kit, so that users can replace slots themselves.
I personally would love to have a 512MB SD card in there, vs. my 16MB DUO...

thats interesting but with the duo being about the size of the SD, perhaps if he hadn't seen the duo before he got a bit confused?

interested to hear more though.

Where did you get the infomation from? I am from Malaysia, but I've never heard about this. You can provide me more details and let me go and check it out for everyone interested.

I have seen one also and it does work.

There is a contector that fits into the duo slot. Then notice the space from that slot where tha battery sits! Well it goes through there, then you put your battery over the top and then insted of putting the cover that came with the phone you put this other cover and it has a slot for standard size sticks!

It works, it is 5mm fatter!

I think if you did a search on 'p800 jacket' in yahoo you will find heaps of info on it!

That's the memorystick adapter. What he's talking about is using SD cards instead of Duos IN THE SLOT.

Which is a load of BS imho.

Hmmm, would be good if it was true - I reckon it's unlikely though - the Duo slot was probably just confused for an SD slot. Was thinking though, it surely can't be that hard to make a card slot that could fit onto the bottom of a P800 - even one that could read different flash cards; SD, SmartMedia, CompactFlash, etc. If the old Ericsson MP3 player could do it, I don't see why there couldn't be a similar device for P800. I think the reasons will be political though - you'll never see one from SE that's for sure as everyone would buy SD and not Duo, and it would probably be pretty tricky for a third party to get this working.

I will research more. Actually sent my "source" out to take a closer look at it. Maybe take a picture.

For the guy from Malaysia, try Low-Yat Plaza in KL. Also, that other mall - trying to remember name - right next to low-yat, when you go through entrance for Isetan, they have all the luggage stores and cell-phone booths.

I am sure it is not the sleeve/jacket. He said it was in the DUO slot. I have seen very weird modifications to electronics in those malls, so it could be true. Not trying to start rumors, but it would be a nice alternative to DUO...
Sorry I can't verify immediately, but will post when I find out if it was a SD slot or maybe something else (like just a standard DUO).

However Its highly unlikely... Cause most Sony Products are either Memory Stick Or memory stick duo... If they were to choose SD they would have to pay extra.

Anyone knows when the attachment that receives normal MS will be out? The info has been circulating around for a long time now. Expansys site stated "estimated in 10 days". Is it really true that this attachment is really coming out?
