I bought my t68i from semicon, and after a few months of using it, it just wont turn on. I brought my unit at semicon in sm north edsa to have it checked. Then, they told me they will be replacing the unit, and gave me a grace period of 1 month (imagine, no cellphone for 1 month!) to wait for the replacement. Anyway, the 30 day period was over and i went back, and to my dismay, they gave me endless excuses to avoid giving me the repl. phone. They even told me that there was no available unit, that they are going to call Ericsson and follow up the request. Are people from semicon really like this? What the use of having a warranty when all they do is give alibis when u ask for a replacement? Are customers supposed to be at their mercy? they couldn't even give me a date as to when i should come back. would it be weeks, months, years? I could have easily bought my cell at greenhills for a definitely lower price, but i opted to buy from semicon despite the higher price, because I was after the after sales service, which they definitely do not have! let this be a warning to those potential customers.

I would have stood my ground if I were you... My suggestion:

Write a formal letter about your incident with your demands stated on it. Attach the recommendation of Semicon's technician to replace the unit. Address it to Semicon Main and copy furnish Sony Ericsson Philippines and the DTI.

If you can prove that they still have stock then the more you should demand a replacement right away.

Contact me if this does not work.

@dl - who to write at DTI and Semicon?

@Alena - I had my P8 repaired at semicon last 22 June but hasnt been finished also. They gave the same excuse. I tried confirming this to SE Phils and this is their reply:

This is regarding your inquiry concerning the status request of your Sony Ericsson mobile phone P800 serviced to Semicon. I guess I made the mistake of sending it to Semicon instead to SESS.

that is one of the reasons why i do not bring my fones to semicon. I had to wait 3 months for my t68i before it was replaced. it's a good thing that semicon is affiliated with smartnet and sess. yun ang binabayaran dun.

@clark, oist!!! sagutin mo tong mga hinaing nung mga kapatid natin dito!!!
are you on the list?

Hindi naman... I'm sure if they have stock they will replace it right away.

I had an hbh15 bluetooth headset which conked out before the warranty expired and they replaced it after 2 months.

@dlreyes: too bad, i already sold the T68ie that a bought sa SEMICON. the people at semicon main said that it was a T68i, the nerve of these so called professional people, i had the proof! the podium technician confirmed that it is an ie, the smartnet people also said the same. i heard that the technician of SEMICON podium who can back up my claim is not there anymore! AXED???? why? for telling the truth? well, i hope some people will learn from this very disappointing experience coz i did! i emailed semicon re my problem before but seems like they just shrugged it off.

this info may help
you know what? i experienced same thing as u are experiencing right now. way way back then, i had this ericsson t28 brought to them, they said that the unit was irreparable and it had to be replaced, it costed me 5 thousand for that replacement (because warranty period was already over), and they made me wait for "more than" 2 freakin' months!!! they also said they could not give specific date, that they'd also contact ericsson, etc... i kept on following up thru fone and on-line(their website), after few months, i had the new phone... the production of t28 then was already halted and ericsson actually made one specially to replace my unit, if only i knew, i should have asked them to replace it with t29 or t39 instead(at that time were already available), than wait for few months(on my side) and make a single piece of t28(on their side). after few months, i had the new t28, fresh from the factory of ericsson... but dont think their warranty is useless, believe me, when they say they'd replace your unit, they would! only u'll wait... for several months.. freakin' isn't it!!! if i were you, you should have brought your unit DIRECTLY to SONY ERICSSON STORE/SERVICE CENTER since it was in sm north edsa you brought your fone, sony ericsson is your fone's manufacturer and authorized distributors like semicon are under them, SE service centers honor such warranties from authorized stores hassle free and free of charge (if as i said, under warranty still)... you can also upgrade the firmware for free if under warranty period.. hope this helpssss!!!

I'll stick it out with Semicon as well compared to the so called "SE Shop" in SM North... I even wonder why they were permited by SE Philippines to use that name for their outlet.

A lot of Semicon guys monitor this thread and some even post here. Those who do share our sentiments and they let higher management know our plight.

you're right, SonyEricsson is their trademark but "SE" is not.

it's good that there is SE serivce solutions to service our needs.

i bought an a2618 which hung after only 1 day. i was told that it would take a week for me to get it back. i told the lady, my phone is a communication device and not some stereo system i can leave behind. i want this serviced or replaced. it was serviced that night...take note, it was NOT that easy to get them to do it. INUBUSAN KO SILA NG INGLES bago nila ako pinagbigyan and i had to call up ericsson for them to coordinate with semicon. i guess you have to really show some fangs to these people to get your way. it's the usual filipino habit not asserting one's rights and these "establishments" only know that and take liberties with only too well. to semicon: a dissatisfied customer is your worst advertiser. if a unit needs replacement, replace! no questions asked. huwag niyo nang pahirapan ang mga customers niyo!

i bought an r600 in june 2002. to cut a long story short, it gave me problems. knowing the pathetic after sales service experience at semicon the previous year, i went straight to ericsson. it seemed the r600 model itself had flaws since i went back to ericsson thrice

they eventually replaced it with a t39.
