I am thinking of getting a PC Card for my Laptop so that I can use it for syncing and use it with a headset. What I want to do is plug a phone line to my laptop and then in outlook click on the phone number and it will dial and connect me to the person through the modem and to my headset. Is this possible? |

I believe the Bluetooth card must support the headset profile in order to meet your need. |

So you want to use a bluetooth PC-card with a bluetooth headset connected to a laptop that is connected to a telephone-line.
Though quite original, I am not sure that this setup is going to work.
Save your buckazoids and buy a cheap cable-headset and plug it in to your laptop |

I doubt that this will work! But if you have a software that enables you to make voice calls with the modem.
I have tryed the Xircom, 3Com and the TDK Bluetooth PC Cards, and I think the TDK is the best one yet. |

I've got the Anycom bluetooth pc card,..quite good.
But this card doesnt support the audio profile, at the moment.
I think at the moment, only one bluetooth card support voice/audio, just cant remember which one, sorry
Most of the bluetooth-cards are upgradable, meaning that new profiles can be added.
Anycom and others are talking about adding e.g. audio-profile to their pc-cards in the near-by future.
Some headsets can be paired with bluetooth pc-cards, they will reconize each other, BUT they will not work, as the cards dont have the audio-profile, exept for the one, I dont remember the name of

Slightly off topic. Can a bluetooth pda pair up with a laptop and use the 802.11 connection it is on to use the internet etc?

Well, sort of,...they are working on this part.
Different companies are working on solutions, where bluetooth will be able to "talk"/be compatible with WIFI (802,11b). Some sort of adapters.
WIFI cant be used in mobile-devices and pda's,..it takes up far to much power/battery.
I did hear/read about it a while ago, but I dont know if you can actually buy any of this stuff yet.

Hi
When I purchased HBH-10 Bluetooth Handfree sometime ago, it comes with a DBA-10 Bluetooth phone adapter. This adapter was used together with my old T28 Phone. Since I bought my new T68m, DBA-10 has become obsolete.
I would like to find out does anyone know whether I can wire up this DBA-10 to my notebook direct (Either COM port or USB Port). Instead of paying big bucks on a new Bluetooth PC Card or USD Bluetooth device, I could utilise this left over product for something useful.
I need to find out what kind of Cable to connect DBA-10 with USB port or Com Port and the Driver to use?.
Perhaps jh67, arnoldc or anyone could help me on this
Thanks in advanve |

Hmm, good question
The main thing is, I dont know how many bluetooth profiles are supported in the DBA-10,..I think you only have the headset/audio-profile,..which is only for speech.
If you are to use the notebook and the T68 as modem, e.g. to go on the internet, you need a profile called DUN (dial up network).
Bluetooth headsets only have one profile, and thats AUDIO.
Other profiles can be added/will be in the near-by future, as the headsets are upgradable.
On bluetooth pc-cards you have different profiles...e.g. DUN, serial port(file transfer), fax and so on. I dont think the DBA-10 have these

Thanks Jan
When I bought HBH-10, it comes with a DBA-10 communication software CD. From what I read, DBA-10 does appear to support Data transfer, Modem function, DUN and communication with PC card installed in notebook.
There are some form of drivers is provided the CD, I may try wiring it up with DRS-11/10 to see whether it will work

@peanut, your laptop must have the connection sharing (Win XP feature) and the BT on the PDA should support LAN profile. |

@all8, the DBA-10 plugs at the bottom of bluetooth-less ericsson phone models. it will only work with those phones (and those phones came with the necessary BT support in the phone firmware). i'm afraid you can't use the DBA-10 for anything else. however, it is not impossible. you need mechanical and electrical connection, write drivers, etc. this is a major undertaking and may not be worth it.

Any TDK Systems PC Card users here?
I am considering this product at the moment. Does it really hold the connection to T68i at up to 50 meters? I mean doesn't the conection depend on the maximium range of both the devices?
How much does it stick out of the laptop? Can you cary it around with the card in or do you have to take it out bofore transportation?
Is there still an issue that everytime you have to manually connect the virtual comport before the Ericsson Mobile Phone Monitor can detect the phone?
Thank you for your answers. |
