Good News: I have heard mumbles from some developers its being developed (i heard it will also display the number of messages waiting, etc too)
Bad news: its not gonna be healthy for the Standby times .. unlike the T68, the P800 has a TFT screen, and keeping it "on" by displaying somehtign is actually "bad" for the battery standby times. I dont really know how much it would affect it, but i suppose it may be fairly significant to be noticable.
The only other idea i can think of is having the "clock" apear very quickly on one click of the jogdial, and turnign off again ten seconds later. However, except for the "turning off again" part, this is exactly what happens on the P800 anyway.

I have found reasonable battery life in standby off mode...the screensaver doesn't seem to drain nearly as much battery life as surfing the web. I don't know if its GPRS or the constant screen illumination (more likely) but either WAP or Opera time causes the most drain. I get about one day of battery life
