Ok, not sure where to put this, but i guess here would be ok, and im not trying to make any money, i just came across this today (I have been having the problem myself).

It's about the Disk read errors people are getting on their Playstation 2s, im having them now, and its really annoying (and expensive) so someone set up a petition to get them fixed for free.

If anyone can sign, please do! it only take a second.

Much appreciated, here is the link:

Cheers.

If its out of warranty why not do it yourself? The cradle where the lens is mounted is not moving freely. Solution: clean and oil the screw shaft, the white plastic hook thing, and the other 2 shafts. Worked for me. Now as good as new!

Does anyone whose lasers are giving problems have chips in their machines. Maybe it's the chips causing the laser problems.

Looks like us diehard Playstation fans will have to pay even more to get our consoles fixed(£65 replacement)after paying full price when they first came out! B*****ds!

I had problems with my ps2 a while back, I would insert a game and the game would take forever to load and make clunking noises.

I rang sony and told them about it, and they came and picked it up and gave me a new one 2 days later!

And my ps2 wasnt even in warranty, I bought it second hand from my mate!

Seems to be luck of the draw!
