Well I have decided its time for me to get the P800... Been a T68i user for a while but now its time for a change and I dont want the T610, I need me a PDA also.. Anywho, before I get this phone I need to ask a few questions..

Since I havent seen a P800 in person I must ask does it have the usual lag that is so characteristic of any Ericsson phone.

Being an American user on Cingular Im sure I can get the GPRS and what not figured out from the forums but will Cingular carry this phone in the near future for insurance purposes I cant stand to break a 600dollar phone and be left out in the cold.

Thats all I can think of, everything else has already been answered in the things Ive read in the forum.

As for lag, the phone is very responsive. Be aware, there is no T9, so its all old school tap style entry.

As for being offered by a provider...doubtful. It will be warrantied if you buy it from SE

Looking for a smartphone with GSM 850 and EDGE. Hoping the P1000 will come through...

I have a P800 that I'm using on Cingular and I'm literally down the road from you (I live in Laguna Beach and work in Costa Mesa). I bought mine unlocked directly from Sony Ericsson. I don't expect to Cingular carrying this phone as they have such as poor selection.

I use GPRS with Cingular, although seeing as I'm paying $15/month for a measly 3MB, I only use it sparingly. I prefer to use my off-peak minutes and CSD.

If you do get a P800 and need help setting it up, just send me a private message on this forum and I'll help you out.

p.s. After reading the T610 review on mobileburn.com, I wouldn't buy one of those even if I was looking for a phone like that. Terrible RF and worse screen (unreadable in sunlight).

I know there is no T9 that doesnt bother me that much I plan on using the phone without the flap so its either virtual keyboard or the stylus for me. How is texting using either or these methods? Ive heard other things are good such as adding appointments etc..

Well I am not a US citizen, but I can tell you that it's pretty easy to use the virtual keyboard. Takes just a mini or two to get the hang of it. Adding appointments and such tasks is easy. I use an application named Handy Day 3.0 which is easy to use and gives a good overview of the day. Hope you will like the phone as much as most of us here do. Oh and you might want to order a 128mb MagicGate DUO memory card for it. So you can use OggPlay or Unrealplayer to play OGG vorbis files or MP3 files.

You need not worry. A 128mb DUO is a must on the Chrismas list. Are there any safe places to buy a P800 other than the SE site? If I have to I will fork the cash but someplace cheap wouldnt be too bad.
