MPM can't find T610 via Bluetooth |

I've read a lot of posts on this subject, but so far nothing similar to my experience as outlined here.
I’ve installed a Belkin BT USB 1.1 adapter (F8T001) on Win XP Home. It immediately found my T610 and listed it under My Bluetooth Places. After pairing the device with my desktop on COM3, I can see pictures, sounds and themes on the T610 and can FTP (.jpg, .mid and .thm) files to my pc and back again to the T610….cool , great job Belkin, highly recommended dongle.
Not so cool was my attempt to then load the Sony Ericsson Communications Suite 1.5.7 so I can sync with Outlook over BT. Each time I try to install, the following happens (note, after a failed install, I use system restore). I load the exe which is followed by a normal unpacking and InstallShield run, however a dialog box soon tells me that “...the system requires additional resources, please restart your system.” So I reboot thinking the install will pick-up where it left off…no cigar. So I run the exe again and on the second attempt (after reboot) it does actually load the software.
However, in Control Panel, MPM doesn’t see the T610 and therefore all the COM port enable/disable options are greyed out. MPM shows COM1 & 2 as enabled and that’s fine, but all of the virtual bluetooth COM ports are disabled. In System Properties, Hardware Devices, Ports…I can see all the BT virtual COM’s from 3 to 12 configured and working properly. So, why doesn’t MPM pick this up and see that my T610 is ready and waiting to connect on COM3 as with the Belkin dongle?
Without MPM, all of the SE software is useless. If it’s just crappy software, are there other software alternatives for managing phonebook contacts and T610 sync with Outlook? I’m fed up with wasting time on XTND Connect problems.
Thanks in advance…..

To enable/disable a com port, you have to click/select it first before you can use the buttons below.

I am having EXACTLY THE SAME problem with this! Everytime I try ti install the PC Suite software it tells me to reboot. I do so and then it says there are "pending system updates", so I must reboot again. This will go go and on!! Like you, I can transfer files to from pc/phone no problem, but the sync with outlook using the SE software is really starting to annoy me now. Why won't it work?
If you do get it to wor, can you please let me know? email me at bav_orange@yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks

Right, but clicking any port within the COMs tab in MPM doesn't do anything, nothing gets selected...MPM is simply frozen. I'm assuming this is because my T610 isn't recognized and listed in the first tab, but why the BT virtual ports are disabled when they show up in Device Manager is beyond me.

Bav, that's correct...it's "pending system updates" before the reboot requirement (I incorrectly said "additional system resources" as I was typing the original post from memory this morning after spending hours at it last night So indeed we have the exact same problem. Only difference based on what you describe above it that after the reboot and reinstall of SE Suite, the software will load, but it's not useable due to the BT COM port disabled problem in MPM. Can you even see the MPM in Control Panel or will your system not even load the software at all?
I'm sure others are having this problem....hope to get some solutions. It may be that we cannot use SE software and will therefore have to sync with our Outlook PIM via the services provided in My Bluetooth Places. However, I'd like to use MPM/SE because there are so many other cool SE programs that (unfortunately) require MPM.

OK! All is working....My BT Places, information exchange, even information sync with Outlook....AND even with the SE Comm Suite
It's a pain in the butt to configure, but I'm glad I kept at it to make it work. I believe the key is to get everything working in My Bluetooth Places first (pair with the pc, configure serial port 1&2 on Com3, add the services information exchange, FTP and sync). Then send a few jpegs back and forth to the phone. I created a System Restore point, then I then disabled anything running in the background on my pc and then ran the SE Suite. I came across the same "pending updates" message as before, so rebooted. Upon reboot, I ran the install again and it took. Then I followed the information contained in the following link (which proved extremely helpful):
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=760
MPM is fine, I enabled Com3 and 4 (and 5 for good measure and then it found my T610. From there, I started up the SE Sync software and it worked.
Now it's time to try the other SE software modules for imaging mgm't and such...
Good luck to all!

It does not work with the cable. I do not have Bluetooth and I would like to sync with the computer using the Cable, but the Phone T610 is not recognized by the Software. Why do they make it so difficult? Who can help? |
