I'm thinking about picking up a cam for my T68i (U.S. user, AT&T Wireless). I've looked at the comparisons between the MCA-20 and MCA-25, and can't figure something out. Seems like the MCA-25 is faster, has a better image quality, and offers more features (with the right firmware). The only advantage the MCA-20 seems to have is that the styling matches my T68i a little better.

But searching eBay, I see that the MCA-20 is selling for almost twice as much as the MCA-25. Any idea why? Are the MCA-20 sellers trying to rip me off, or is there a bigger demand for the MCA-20 for some reason I don't know?

The MCA-20 is harder to get these days, simply because the MCA-25 is much better. Those sellers are trying to rip you off! There things happen not seldom to rare accessories, today I bought a HPM-10 via eBay for $50 (shipping cost from Canada to Belgium included) while I could get it in The Netherlands for 'only' $200 (shipping cost excluded!).

the MCA-20 styling goes better with the t68i, but as for features, its probably best to go for the MCA-25... has the digital zoom

digital zoom is actually a little overrated as you can usually get better results with software on the pc. however if its a pic you want to zoom and use directly on the phone or in an mms then the zzom is obviously easier to use in those cases.

Don't expect too much from that digital zoom though ;-)

correct, according to the MCA-20 FAQ it can store 14 640 x 480 pics whereas the MCA-25 FAQ says it can only store 10 at that resolution.

thanks for the quick responses. the digital zoom isn't a big issue for me (in fact, I'd need a firmware update to even use it). I just didn't know why the MCA-20 was selling for more.

The MCA-20 can store more pictures, correct, but remember the quality is lower!

No, both cameras have the same resolutions available and also the same colour depth so I believe the quality will be similar.

The MCA-25 FAQ quotes

"CommuniCam™MCA-25 has more or less the same functionality as MCA-20 but with additional features like optical viewfinder, effects and also digital zoom."

which probably sums up the differences.

yeah just go for the MCA-25... quality is okay for a phone cam.. and you get the digital zoom when you get your firmware upgraded

and you save money

theres only one choice really

You'll also be able to rotate the picture with an earlier FW version on the T68 - something you can't do with a 20, and sometimes useful if you want to conceal the phone and take the pic upside down.

i've got both and i think its strange, sometimes the MCA-25 has better pics, and sometimes not lol. i think i would use the MCA-20 most of the times, since i will fit whit my new comming T68i blue. but i normally use my P800 for pics
