I believe it is a temperature insulator.

I think battery performance depends on heat. By insulating the battery from the main P800 board, there is a better heat dissipation, which might result in better performance.

I'm just speculating, but if this is really how it works, performance gains should be minimal.

under product information it says:

"Overlay Plus Power Extender is made of a newly developed speical material, PAT.P." - ok so its made out of some special stuff

"This material generates cavity radiation energy and dissolves slugs stored in the battery." - slugs?? my p800 is powered by slugs??

"This improves the flow of ions and hence will be able to improve battery power significantly." - k...thats easy to understand.

an explaination written in plain english is what i was looking for.. kindly provided by oferlaor. thanks.

what gets me is the 30% or so increase this gives in performance... for something that costs < $10.... fishy... very fishy. [addsig]

did you ever get those reception booster thingies that were advertised on junk mail and on tv for $15 a pop (and for $5 for ten on ebay!!)?. a chip of sorts that goes on your battery and increases reception immensly? did sod all! reminds me of that. Though it's made by Martin Fields who make the terrific overlay plus....so who knows!

Found this defination of slugs on www.dictionary.com:

A slimy mass of aggregated amoeboid cells from which the sporophore of a cellular slime mold develops.

Perhaps the chemicals used in the battery do create a slimy mass during the chemical reaction process to create energy power and this probably cause some deterioration to the battery life over time?

I'm not a chemist so maybe someone in the know care to explain the process?
