T68i missing something |

The t68i sounds like a great phone, but with all these new upcoming phones with a 4096 colour display, Sony Ericsson now seem a little behind. The p800 looks great but thats one big mother of a phone, what about for us mobile users who need a small and compact phone. Even though the t68i has the best features such as bluetooth, mms, and digital camera connectivity, i feel that they havent really made a huge improvment on the t68m. I think they should have waited at least another 6 months and then released the t68i with new 4096 colour diplay, improved ringtones and other little extras here and there. I love Sony Ericsson and would never buy a nokia or other phone but they have let down their customers this time by releasing this t68i only a few months after the huge t68m launch and its really not all that much better. Looks like i will buy a t68i because im an Ericsson man forever but when my mate has a 7210 and he is flashing off that cool colour display, i will just be quiet and take it like a man!!! |

Can you not see that they released the T68i purely (mainly) becuase of branding? If the merge between sony and ericsson never took place the t68i would never have been made it just would have been a firmware upgrade for the original t68. Sony want their name firmly on the front of this phone as they feel it'll go somewhere - (hopefully in the bin! (but each to their own)) |

the only thing the nokia 7210 has that's better than the t68 or the t68i is the 4096 display, all the other features doesn't even come close to what the t68 and t68i offers.

But you'll be flashing off bluetooth, a normal keyboard and so many other features and you'll be flashing them off for much longer! check out Nokia's stand-by time....
And that's six months from now....so I wouldn't worry.... |

Btw 4096 and 256 colours, you'll not find much different in them. Remember, not too long ago, all of us were using Black & white screen (2 tones only) and nobody seems to complain about them.
Now Nokia has 4096 colours screen and yet this screen is still far inferior as compared with computer screen of millions of colours
Who need 4096 colours?, Unless he/she is staring on the screen for 8 hours a day just like using computer. |

@ ALL8 well said,
a small screen with a 4thousand + colors against a 256 color will not affect your perception of the images on the screen unless they come out with a high definition 25 inch color monitor for their sorry nokia lcd ass!!!!

amen to that.
that was my long gone point before. the heck would you want 4096 colors ( or better yet 16 million colors ) on a mini-size monitor?
would you notice the difference between two greens that come next to each other in a 4096 color palette? or maybe two blues or tow yellows. Heck you wouldnt unless you've got this really big monitor to tell the difference.
it's what's called inefficiency for 7210 (@ 4096 colors).
and efficiency for t68 (@ 256 colors)

Complain all you want about the release of T68i. The fact is that if Sony did not buy (merge) with Ericsson, then there would not be any Ericsson. Ericsson was close to bankruptcy and something had to happend! Nokia (like it or not) had (maybe still has) most of the mobilphone market!
Im not a Nokia fan! Actually I have never owned a Nokia. I had Siemens phones and now I own the T68i. And I am going to buy the CommuniCam MCA-20 when I find it. |

I was on CeBIT(8 days) and had a look on the 7210, and there is no news in that phone.
It can only store one picture! In the SE T68(new SW) and T68i you can store many since it has dynamic memory. The P800 is going to change design abit when it's going to be launched. More smooth edges and less plastic feel. I eat a lot of lunches during that week with SE guys so I know.
It's a pitty that a lot of folks is spreading false roumers, if it continues esato will die cause noone will care of a log of roumers. Can't laffen&co just ban all false roumer spreading people? It's easy to see who just want to make confusions if you look two weeks back in time.... |

Ericsson had big economical problems, but where not close to bankruptcy.
The phones was/is a very small part of Ericssons business, their future depends on the system part (3G and so on).
Now the phones are in a own company, and the economical difficulties are still there for Ericsson. But I think that the first of their business areas that turns around and starts to bring in more money then it costs are the phone part.
They seems getting back on track, theyve left the "squarish" models behind, and I think that the joint venture with Sony are looking very good.

Considerign that the T68 is the first of its kind in colour screen technology in a small phone - it ROCKS... and yes its early days.. they WILL get better by the day.
We just have to wait for the new releases in the next few years to see what kinda differences theres gonna be.
