Where are all the "developers" who have been on the various forums claiming to be "developing" software which is ALMOST ready?
Where are all those people who went on forums saying "I've TRIED a BETA version out, I stole it and I can't send it to any of you but I can't tell you who I got it from either, it's kinda top secret, buit all i can say is that it's wicked and it'll be on the site tommorow at 2pm"
And what about he people who went on forums saying "I've got the beat software ready and I'll send it to WHOEVER posts between the hours of 2:15pm and 2:30pm today, leave your email address!"
etc etc etc .... where the hell is this video software????
Any REAL developers out there please let me know you exist and how things are going, I'm getting anxious!

i received a file claiming to be a beta file for video recording on the p800.
when i tried to install it the message "incorrect security data" was all i got. when i opened the file on my pc all i got was a list of nokia devices that the software could run on.
but if any developers want it for converting...
pm me

@ kitp800
Ive seen that one too, theres been talk of video recording on the P800 for ages, and although its almost certainly possible, it probably wont be any good if an app ever arrives!
I wouldnt be surprised to see it as a feature included on the P810 though.

I really don't know, why there is nobody able to develop this f*cking camcorder app for the P800!!!
I would spent up to EUR 50,- for such an application, developers could earn quite a lot of money, but there is still nothing released!
BTW, http://www.symbiansolutions.com once said that they are developing such an app, but still now there is nothing to buy...

Gods sake why start another thread this has been debated and tossed around for as long as..............
why dont people have patience, if you want a video capture phone NOW get a N3650, if not wait , keep your P800 and mail the developers directly, the ones that make software for Other Smart phones!! i did and was more than happy with my replies one of which is below, i have their Video app on my N3650 and it is excellent if indeed a work in progress.. still VERY capable for what i want and im sure what most people would want on a 2/2.5G phone..
For Heavens sake the SE Camera API has only been available to developers for a short time..
get proactive and mail the companies that make the Software
see this thread for more on that
another company that is about to release software is
WildPalm they are releasing Zipman and Ringtone Studio and shorly afterwards they are releasing Camera FX
here is the reply i got from them
Keep the Faith..
Dear *******
We're currently developing versions of ZipMan and Ringtone Studio for the
P800 phone - these should be available within the next few weeks. CameraFX
will be available shortly afterwards, but unfortunately, SonyEricsson do
not currently allow access to the Camera from third-party software.

Well great, thanks for the news. But no need o be so pathetic about the post itself. IT HELPS NOBODY by posting another one of those bloody "don't do this, don't do that, do as I do, I'm the greatest, follow my perfect lead" etc etc .... if it bothers you that much, then don't read it or reply! Simple as that. If you do reply with something constructive (such as your emails) then that's great, but I don't see what is helped by beggining with criticism!?
It really bugs be that some people on here think they are some sort of elite ruling class that should tell others how awful they are, it's very patronising.
Personally the worst thing in my book is responding to "NEWBIE" uestions relating to something quite straight forward, and instead just offering a long winded reply criticising them for not using the search function (or presunming they hadn't tried!), when a much shorter response could have answered the question!
Bloody hell, if it bothers you that much, then perhaps it's a case of needing to rearrange the following 3 words: "Life", "Get" & "a"

Since when are you a newbie? i was responding to your post?
and if thats the worst thing in your book i think you need to Get a life..
i think you took me up wrong on the start of my post
why in your post were the words "something constructive" used when there was serious lacking of that in your post?
at least if i ever criticise i follow it up with "something constructive" i suggest you do the same.
you decided to concentrate on my 16 or so words of criticism, but nothing of your views on the other 300 or so other words in my post..
c'mon dude lighten up, bad day uh?
(if i took your criticism up wrong i apologise)

over and out?
I think you'll find the problem here is you being oversensitive to a point of view that MOST on here hold - that people are too quick to say that others shouldn't be posting certain things.
I then went on to follow up my argument with a common example (the DEMAND of use of the search feature).
I DON'T have anything to admit, you don't either as far as i'm concerned (even though you said you "admit" you were wrong) - as i wasn't looking for right or wrong.
I said what you're reply said about the emails was great. But I only thought the whole "why bother posting this stuff" part was out of order as you could simply have chosen to ignore it, and by the mere fact that you had something valid to contribute, you were thus contradicting yourself a bit and therefore I thought that perhaps you might infact be just saying the whole post thing to inflict some power onto to others (there are those types around!). If you feel thats not the case then fine - afterall YOU know YOU best!
Anyway I'm not bothered what you say in regard to "issues" etc, I just hope this whole thing is heard by ONE person even who NOW won't bother replying SIMPLY to say "Don't post this stuff" etc etc and nothing else. (Which YOU didn't even do! As you DID contribute!)
Anyway whatever!! |

I haven't read through the posts so I don't know if this has been
said yet but....
I have had a look at the Camera API and one of the first things I read in the manual states that the Video Functionality in the Camera API will not work with the p800...
Anyone have any more info on this?

@Dragoneye
see my post above, hopefully they will be releasing it soon!!, as said before in many threads on many forums if the N7657/3650 can do it sufficiently then the p800 is more than able right??

The 'Official' SE Camera API does not support Video, Digital Zoom or Flash operation. This information can be confirmed here:
http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/sub/open/devices/p800/docs/camera_vibration_api
However....Eyetech has developed a camera API for UIQ devices which WILL be able to capture This API being expensive limits the number of developers. Sucks right? |
