Upgrading software |

I have just been reading a thread about upgrading the software on the P800, I have a service centre (reasonably) local and had the software upgraded on my T68 to T68i for free.
What is the latest version of software for the P800?
How do I find out my current version?
How do you qualify for free upgrade?
Apologies if this has been discussed, I could not find a thread on it. |

latest version is r2f. To qualify all you need is proof of purchase.
check your version on the main organiser screen under view......system prefs |

Thanks for the reply, my version says R1D, is there a big difference from this version to the latest? Is it worth doing?

R2F is only some bug fixes from R2D. Nothing noticeable.
If you are upgrading in the UK and you are on Orange, it's a very very grey area. Hopefully you're not .....

It's always worth it to update, even he the differences are minimalistic :-D How long does such an update take?

Just called the service centre and they said if I wanted the phone back by the end of the day, I would have to take it in before lunch, so it takes about 5 hours ?? Apparently |

more than likely that is their backlog, it should take just over an hour to actually flash the phone, maybe they have given extra time in case it doesnt work first time. |

Same old f*****g problem with CPW. They will upgrade Orange P800's at some service centres and not others.
Richmond, Newcastle, London, Glasgow seem OK, but the one in Aberdeen refuses to do it.
Scary stuff ...... |

is it not because only some of them have service centres? |

What difference does it make if it's on Orange? I bought mine second-hand, when I turned it on, it came up with the Orange startup-screen, but that has now disappeared since I did a 'format internal disk' on it, and the phone is now unlocked and used on Vodafone. |
