i notice that some people on this forum end there messages with jog dial instructions such as this one from the excellently helpful (in my opinion) lordmike on a recent post:

Jogdial: Up * down down * down * and up * down * * down *

does "up" mean out towards you the user or up towards top of phone? and what does "*" mean?
i've tried all combinations but cannot get anything to happen. help please. what should happen at the end of this sequence of jog dial movements?

Up means towards the top of the phone. Meaning you spin the wheel one click up and then press on * which is next to "0+" and below "7PQRS"

sorry i was being a bit dim there and also over complicated. because i always use the phone without the flip and without virtual flip i thought "*" meant something like click in on the jogdial and of course i did have the above confusion over what was up - happens in outer space too i guess.
finally does anyone have a list of these jog dial sequences and what they do?
do they do things you cant do via selecting menus and submenus??
thanks for help

Oooooh s**t, just tried your sequence Lordmike and didnt like the thought off delving into it further incase I bugger up my phone!

Me thinks me will just stray away from that... untill, ofcourse, someone enlightens me as to what exactly is the purpose of going into this menu!

Well the only thing I found in those menues which you can't do in the phone itself using the normal menues is a format of the internal memory. Well that I can remember now.
And no, I only know of these two.
