Anyone noticed that if you download a sis file then you aren't given an option to save it, only install.. Or do they get stored somewhere?

you can choose 'done' if sent by IR or Bluetooth first and it will be saved in your BEAMED folder in messages.

I found something else though... while looking through my phone with filemanager i found a folder called install. In this folder is all the .sis files that you have used to install programs. You don't need them on it for the programs to work (don't go deleteing them yet though.... read on) however as i test i tried deleting one of them.

The app worked fine still. However i then checked and not really to my surprise i was unable to uninstall the app from the unistall menu. So you can delete the .sis files and free some space up. If you need to uninstall a program you will have to do some searching to find where the full program is install and delete all its folders. Theres something else that crossed my mind as well. Certain apps (OggPlay for example) have various different versions and newer versions coming out every so often. I would be that without the .sis file in the install folder you won't get that message that tells you "an older version is installed, would you like to replace this app?" which could end up confusing the P800.

Just thought I'd share after my tinkering.... besides who needs to free up 200k when you have a 128mb DUO

What I find annoying is that I can no longer install .sis files in the phone. And I don't want to do a master reset. :-/

what do you mean LM?

How are you trying to install the .sis? are you beaming them over or using the cradle and running the .sis from your PC?

@Air
Installing from the phone. As in I downloaded via opera like I usually do and suddenly I didn't get the Install option. Also tried saving the file and using file manager to install, same thing with the viewer. It tried to open with the view program. I think I can still install with the USB cradle.
SE told me to do master reset. But I can't since I have lost some install files. Meaning I forgot where they are on my server. (I know I have to do a better search).

i'm aware of the unintall .sis files but i'm talking about DOWNLOADED .sis files via the builf in browser. There's no 'done' opfion, only istall. Sometimes i want a copy of the .sis file for later but it disappeares after install. Any ideas how to keep it?
