Darn, my P800 reveals a dead pixel on the screen (lil red dot). Spotted it when I was watching video on it...
Anyone else has this problem? |

Sounds like time for you to get a replacement P800 under warranty! |

Me too. It's white and not so easy to spot, but it's there. Irritating |

Has anyone tried to get their unit replaced?
I know with my previous Vaio (an R600) I had one pixel faulty (in a 1024x768 screen) and it was only annoying when watching DVD's but it was very visable during the movie.
Sony said their policy was that would not not replace the unit unless there were at least 15 dead pixels!

You CAN replace them. A friend of mine got a T610 with a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. Just one, but very very irritating indeed.
Under warranty, made no problems exchanging it. Why would they? Defective screen is defective screen.

you've also got to remeber that despite the name Sony in Sony Erricson they do not work the same as Sony Computer hardware.
Sony is such a big company (in fact massive is a better way to describe it)that there is so much ill communication between the different divisions anyway!
I work and liase with people from SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) to do with video games etc and just trying to liase with Sony's head legal team is such a head ache! Anyway enough of my ranting. |

A dead pixel can actually be one of various colours depending on which of the RGB transistors has failed.
Here is a good definition of dead pixel (see bottom of page).

I dunno... doesn't really bother me that much...
Moreover, will need to buy another screen protector if they do replace one for me... |
