erm.... i have a p800... but i do love the phone itself and all it's features but ultimately its just too damn fat to love. i bring it everywhere with me (it's been scuba diving in an aquapac) but i just cant seem to get the hang of the texting with the huuge screen and the camera seems slightly pointless.. only upside atm is full web. i think i will go buy the siemens SL55 which came out just a few days ago i think and is small and nice and full featured and has T9!!!! |

i do undersatand where you are coming from and it is a case of patience.
the P800 has great potential when first bought, but this not only needs to be realised, but acted upon.
i was not entirely happy with my p800 until i had owned it for a week.
after this time i had fully customized the phone with downloaded images and apps.
the p800 is like a kit car...
if you want it ready made, dont apply.
the handwriting is much like T9 in that it has to be learnt.
i had three fones with predictive before i could be bothered to use it, and until the p800 i couldnt live without.
the handwriting recog is extremely easy to use (so i've found), once you have gotten use to it and the touch screen removes the arduous task of scrolling through menu after menu, two touches at opposite side of the screen might aswell be next to eachother.
the camera is a gimic and although pictures of mates when they call is handy, i wouldnt call it useful. When the video recording is 3rd party written, then we'll be talking. and with a 128 and 256 duo, 10secs will no longer be the limit.
Any takers? |

Hey Malcolm if you don't like your P800 just put it in a box and send it to Holland. I promise I will take good case of it! lol

kitp800 is right, as much as I was amazed by the phone when I first got it, after I've customized it completely and loaded it with apps, ebooks, music, games, etc it's really a completely different phone. You have to push it to its potential and once you're there you really appreciate its power and capabilities. And it's not too big, I barely even feel it when it's in my pocket.
I love it. |

yeah i know all about that and believe me my p800 is one of the most customised phones on the block with the colour changers my own start up logo a 64mb duo and lots of pics and apps and my brando of course, but after having used it since a week after it came out i have realised that it is too big-- it has a huuuuge bulge in my pocket, and i find myself leaving it behind all the time when going out, and having to take my oooold 3310 out at night instead of the p800 for fear it may get broken or dropped in a drink. i mean i really do love the phone and i would keep it as well as getting the sl55 i really would but i just cannot afford it unless someone will pay me £325.00 to keep it |

I don't think it would fit in the glass if you dropped it in a drink (???), so no need to worry! OK, it would fit, but how often does that happen? |

It fits very nicely into a pint glass.
@malcs
do you use colour app that changes the menus to a predefined colour set ie toffee, ocean etc, or do you use one of the full colour theme editors?

i use a full colour theme app from psi-loc and have designed my own theme completely from scratch in a 'silver-style' one |

But the SL55 doesn't come with a camera and has no mp3 player. If I just wanted a phone I could buy a 3210.

@malcs:
if you are going for an SL55 instead of the P800 you have now, then you most certainly know that you're not the kind who needs a P800. If you only need the features of the SL55, why did you buy a P800, when you were certain about the size of the P800? It's like going out buying a two-story bus when you only need a Smart... |

yeah no the thing is that i really do like the phone and it is brilliant for everyday use in school etc... but its the fact that i do go out a lot and i would have the sl55 as just a second phone but the truth of the matter is that i cant afford to have both. |

If you just want a smaller phone to go out with, why buy the Siemens, you can just choose another phone that is cheaper with color screen? For example a T300? Just a thought.
