Hello everyone.
I'm really glad I finally found a P800 forum, cuz my shiny new phone is causing me headaches. Please forgive me if this has been answered before - I did do a quick search but none of them seemed to relate to iSync 1.1.

Okay, this is a the problem; iSync can't add my P800 as a device, because it can't find it.

I have a P800 doing bluetooth fine (with headset) and a G4-upgraded 9600 running 10.2.6 with a Keyspan Bluetooth USB Adapter attached. Bluetooth prefs all come up, and the adapter is enabled. I can select and pair the P800 to my system, and my phone sees my computer too in its Bluetooth Preferences.

I can 'beam' over files to the phone via Bluetooth File Transfer okay - nice and fast, and Sailing Clicker's Proximity control works aswell (though I have to walk out onto the street for iTunes to pause!)

That's where the fun stops. I can't beam over files from the P800 to my Mac, and iSync can't see the phone.

I don't have my Firewall on, so problems surrounding that shouldn't be affecting my setup.

One thing I have come across, while reading about how to hack iCal to sync with the P800 is that the infamous "/Library/Application Support/SyncService/501/SymbianConduitDefaults.plist" file doesn't exist on my system (at least not there!). I have no idea why; I have iSync 1.1 and iCal 1.0.2, and until now the only syncing I've done was a single sync to a demo .mac account a few days ago.

If anyone could it would be really appreciated. It's always bad when all the gadgets you've just blown a fortune on don't work right!

Cheers,
Headwerk'n.

Hi, I am also a hard core Mac user (Powerbook and P800) and everything works perfect for me. At first I also had teh problem not finding my phone but as you already read you have to cancel your fire wall or open port 3004!

I don't know if you already have lots of data that can get lost but first don't try the workaround to get iCal synced, you van lose all your data, apple says it "is coming soon" so be patient. Second: you can make a back-up of your addressbook and try reinstalling iSync 1.1, so start all over again and before you start with the new installation log out and restart.

Hope this will help you, if not check this like on apple's site:

Good luck
The best is yet to come

Thanks for the tip, unfortuntely the bluetooth module seems to have completely trashed my MacOSX system drive, and the ol' puter is in at the local AppleCentre awaiting diagnosis. So I'm stuck in PC land with (shudder) Outlook. Oh well, it's already suppose to work...

I seem to have a different problem when trying to sync from my Mac to the P800. When using iSyncīs "Add device" it finds the phone and tells me to double click it to add it, but itīs not doable. Will I have to wait for a new iSync version or should I try to upgrade the phone firmware (itīs now R2D)? Or maybe both? I am not interested in hacking the system for fixing this... I have tried turning off the Firewall, restarting etc etc.

Thanks for any help!

Hi, my advice would be to wait for a new version of ISync as I 've lost lots of data (calendar / adress, phone number) in order to have the sync working properly...

BTW, I am trying to configur my Apple to use the P800 as a GPRS modem for on the move internet access but can't get it right...Everytime I launch the connection, got a modem error, please check your setting message...

I think you're talking about a PC but on Apple's MAc, the problem is different as we are using ISync and BT send/receive function...

Headwerkn,
Your "SymbianDefault.plist" will not appear before you have successfully had your P800 appear in iSync. This file is created on the fly.

Mine works so so, sometimes gets stuck and I can have it work again by unplugging the BT adapter and replugging it.

What I have noticed though is that everything works better if I just configure the P800 for iSync and leave alone the address book and modem part. When you have BT look for the phone, leave those 2 checkboxes unchecked after a successful pairing
