Bit of a long shot but...
Does anyone know how to discover the identity of a person by their mobile number and is it easily available.
It's nothing like I'm being stalked... however I did get a call a few minutes ago from someone saying that they had on their records that my phone was 12 months old.... i said no, i got my P800 last month.
When i asked who their company was and where they got their lists from they hung up.
It was a mobile number this call seemed to come from.
So I'd like to find out if it was a legit company.
Anyway as i say it's a long shot.... but if i can't find out ill happily post the number for people to flame and do stuff with as they see fit >:)

easiest way would be to ring back, withholding your number...

Why dont you try ringing the number? Though it sounds dodgey
that they hung when you questioned them! If not contact your network provider and see if they can do anything...

I did ring back but of course i got an Orange answer phone message.
I did leave a message but i think its a little blue for this forum
Anyway its not that important.... if it was a nuisence caller i know there is nothing that my network provider can do. They will tell you to go to the Police first who then investigate. My friend had alot of anon phone calls and thats what she had to do then.
I just wondered if any of you may know of a quicker route
Thanks for the speedy replies any how. |

There was something like this on watchdog uk a couple of months ago. A "company" buys a sim card from a store like carphone warehouse, and from the number of their new phone, they can work out the mobile numbers of people who bought a phone from the shop recently. They then offer you deals on better insurance, upgrades etc, and they sound like a real company as they know your network, when and where you bought your phone from! So watch out!

As it was the orange answerphone you got, you should try the orange directory. Not sure exactly what it is but when I got my phone I was asked if I would like to be listed in it.
