Hello,
In order to do E-mail, you need to set up a dial-up data connection to your ISP.
You can NOT do the T68 E-mail function over GPRS. You need a circuit switched (CSD) connection.
This is a description on how to set up a CSD DATA ACCOUNT:
=============================================
Go to "CONNECT", "DATA COMM", "DATA ACCOUNTS","ADD ACCOUNT"

Account type: GSM data
Name: "VS CSD Data" or something like that
Phone no: +19132440821 ( THIS IS VOICESTREAMS ACCESS NUMBER AND WORKS FOR ANY POP MAIL. USE YOUR ISP NUMBER IF YOU WANT. THEN YOU NEED TO USE THE USER ID AND PASSWORD FOR YOUR ISP BELOW)
User id: wap
Password: (blank)

-----------
These are additional settings (accessible by editing the data account) that you have to monkey with to get it working. After you save and close, choose connect, data comm, data accounts, and then your CSD data account. Choose edit.
-----------
Password request: off
Data Rate: 9.6

Dial type: ISDN (I believe that when you create a new account it defaults to analouge, so you'll have to change this to ISDN)

DNS Address: 208.014.205.005

After this, you go in to "Messages", "Options", "E-mail", "Edit Account", "Add New"

Fill in the information for your POP3 mail account. Note that you need to use the IP ADDRESS of your mail server !!

Good luck !

I found it here on the Forum. I searched for "VoiceStream" and found this great description.
I had an extended discussion with VoiceStream on this subject but I gave up.

For some reason, VoiceStream does not allow POP3 over GPRS so that's why the CSD DataAccount need to be set up on the phone.

This is the set up of GPRS on VoiceStream:

Introduction
This document gives a brief explanation of how to configure GPRS and WAP in the Sony Ericsson T39 GPRS terminal, specifically for the VoiceStream network. Please note that the document does not claim to be complete, but will highlight all available settings and necessary configurations in the terminal. VoiceStream settings are highlighted in yellow.

1. GPRS settings
The following information describes available settings for the GPRS service and states recommended values where it is possible. Almost all these parameters will be automatically configured with the feature OTA (Over The Air) configuration. The recommended values are highlighted.

1. Choose Settings Menu and then Data com.
2. Next step is to create a data com account, choose Data accounts and then Add account
3. Type an appropriate name for the account, e.g. GPRS
4. Next step is to choose GPRS data as the Account type by pressing Yes. Note that Yes shall be pressed even if the GPRS data is tagged.
5. The following settings will appear:
 APN nam: wap.voicestream.com
 User id: Blank (no setting)
 IP address: Blank (no setting)
6. Press Accept when all the above settings are done
7. Highlight the new data account and press Yes and then choose Edit

2. WAP over GPRS
The WAP service is today available with three different barrier services GPRS, CSD and SMS.

1. Choose WAP services and the following items will show up:
 - …
 - Select profile

 Change Type
4. Choose IP settings and then:
 Connect using: GPRS
 IP address: 216.155.165.050
 User id: Blank (no setting)
 Password: Blank (no setting)
 - Data mode: Connection Less
5. - Response timer: DEFAULT (150)
3. Setting iStream as Default under Wap Services
These settings will configure iStream as the default menu.
1. Choose WAP services and the following items will show up:
 - …
 - Select profile
 - Clear cache
 - WAP settings
2. Choose WAP settings and then Profile 1 or VoiceStream (or whatever named you gave Profile 1, in the Wap over GPRS settings above)
3. Choose Chg homepage and yes - then name Title to iStream, then yes.
4. Address will come up, Put in: wap.myvoicestream.com, then yes
5. Setup is complete, back out of wap settings – now reenter and the default (number 1 choice) should be iStream – click on iStream, and the iStream menus should appear.

 Please note:
1. The Mobile Internet site will still be available under bookmarks after changing the Home page.
2. iStream menu features and content must be configured through VoiceStream’s WEB site.
3. Many, many Wap sites, which work on the T39, are available to be placed in Bookmarks – Two good sources are for WAP addresses:
http://www.wap.com
http://mobile.yahoo.com/phone/dir
4. A free wap site with downloadable ring tones and background images is available. Place the following address in your bookmarks:
