hey switchbitch,

I'm in NZ for a few weeks and have been using my P800 on a Vodafone prepay sim. The GPRS was available without changing any setting from the Optus accounts I run in Australia. In fact I deleated all WAP and GPRS account on my fone thinking that I was somehow being billed in Austraila for the hours I was spending on line - but it was all apparently for free. I spoke to Vodafone and they confirmed that I did not have GPRS access on that sim. So I kept on surfing, checking e mail(can't send unless you get the vodafone smtp) updating Worldmate etc. My prepay did runout (there was only about $4 on it) and I could continue to surf with a zero balance. It did however stop after a few days - so I stuck $20 on the card and it's going again. It appaers I'm getting billed, but only say $5 a week. In Oz I ran up a $350 bill in one month surfing on GPRS - that was during the free 2 month trail so I didn't actually have to pay, but I'm surfing in NZ at least as much as I was in Oz.

All the Vodafone WAP/GPRS set-up details for the P800 are on the vodafone nz site for what it's worth

Cheers

Kaz

hey guys.
yea i get free gprs on a prepay sim! i was using opera for about 2 weeks though, and now i cant access it.... i entered 'internet' as the address for my gprs account, which worked for those 2 weeks, but now i cant access, i just get a 'not ready' message.
do you think vodafone might have caught up with me and barred me? i can still use the default browser with MyVF WAP GPRS.....
the opera internet account works when i use a friends sim card. what are the recommended settings for internet (not wap) access here? i dont want to call vodafone and register cos ive downloaded a LOT of data and id rather they didnt know me!
drop me your nz phone numbers at 'switchbitch@nowmms.com' cos then we can email/mms for free!
heh heh. lets hope vodafone dont fix this problem for a long time!
be good to hear from you guys....
cheer bro
