You actually got that message just like that?? I get it when I format my internal disk but I'd cry if it just appeared one day for no reason...
Come on, tell me you were messing around with sensitive files or something! |

This happend to me on Sunday. No reason at all, just popped up and said that the internal file was corrupt. Did the reset and format of the HD and had a nice clean working phone again.
Took it home tried to do the restore, but it kept saying that it was having problems with the files (couldn't find them or some thing). Got some stuff back but couldn't access my contacts it just said "Not enough memory" Funny I thought, there is about 4MB of space on the internal HD and the phone was clean.
Did another reset and reformat, lovely clean working phone again. Tried the restore again with similar messages. Now I have a dead phone!! All I get is the 10sec reset all the time/as soon as the phone is turned on. Can't access anything, can't reset, can't reformat, squat!
Any ideas anyone?? What do I do now? |

Could it be that you ran out of space - then the phone tried to write some temporary file - which it couldn't, and so it crashed. I've read that the phone does run into problems - particularly at startup - if there's not enough memory on the phone. Solved though with the latest update. |

I've read on the forum that R2F puts a temporary file (called slopfile.ini) on the internal drive at boot up, to stop you managing to fill it. The file then gets deleted by the system when phone is turned off. |

Well fortunately, I've yet to suffer from any major problems. I've had a few TOD's, but nothing other. I did hear from another P800 user that the IR Remote software could cause problems - like corrupting disks, so I uninstalled it promptly. |

Have the same problem myself on a 'clean' R2D version. From reading other the posts in various threads, reading symptons and suggested causes the only one worthy of consideration in my view is that the memory is filling-up (newbie qu. : how can i tell how much is memory is being used on my 'clean' phone ?).
Suggestions that dodgy/untested applications, or... not using the lastest firmware or... not using infrared etc. may well be true...but just distract from what seems to be THE fundamental flaw.
We'd all love to keep our backups up-to-date, but hey when i'm away from my PC and the disk goes bang it's hardly practical to fly/bus/train/drive home just to restore my contacts, etc !!
...yes, i am p****d off. Great technology, crap reliability. |
