T68i and pc via Usb cable .... what the f.... |

Hi all!
I've been fiddling with this problem for a while... after reading almost all the messages in this forum and - consequently - having tried *almost* all the advices i found, I think I can say I'm left without a clue....
Sony Ericsson t68i, two weeks old. Amd 1333 pc w Xp Pro on board, Usb data cable:
- At first I tried to use the crappy Ericsson Communication Suite (Mobile Phone Monitor, Xtnd Pc etc.). No matter what I tried, the prog WILL NOT see the phone. I tried to swap all the Usb ports, tried to d/l the newest versions of the Ericsson software, tried to follow exactly ALL The advices contained in this forum on the matter, even tried some rain dance around the pc to no avail ...
- Then I tried to use to soft that came with my data cable (Handset Manager from BKonnekt), here at least the phone is recognised and gets connected to the pc. I can syncronize the phonebook, sms, upload and download pictures BUT, no way to sync the phone calendar with Outlook (Office Xp Pro). There also I've been trying all the tricks I could find, included Voodoo but, every time the prog will tell me that "item 1688 could not be syncronized" and, as a result, no sync at all. Immagine, I also tried to delete all the appointments on the phone, one by one, in the hope of finding a culprit, a chunk of corrupted data whatever ... nothing ...
- In the end I found Mobile Navigator.
Fantastic! Connects to the phone at lightning speed, EVEN syncs the phone calendar with Outlook's BUT ... all the appointments come out with their time schedules messed up!! (e.g.: If I have an appointment at 1pm today, Mobile Navigator upon syncing phone and pc will reset it so that it comes out as if it had been scheduled at 11.am!!!), and it does so with all the data in my calendar on both Outlook and the phone, so that after that I'm forced to reschedule the whole lot on the phone in order to put things back in order ...
Gentlemen please, is there anybody which came out with a REAL solution to this problem? So far Sony Ericsson doesn't say a word on the matter, no patches, no workarounds, nothing. If I stick to what I read on this forum Iìm not the only one who's in trouble so what?
Tks for reading and for the replies you'll care to give.

It sounds to me like you've been doing everything right.
Try deleting the PC Suite you've downloaded and download it again.
If it still wont work I suggest you give support a call.
Good luck mate.

Hi all again,
well ... after much hassle today I decided I was going to try something different:
- I went to my usual computer shop and got a cheapo Irda to Usb adapter.
- Went back home, crammed the thing into the appropriate Usb port.
- Reloaded all the Sony Ericsson software (Mobile Phone Monitor, Xtnd Connect)
- Fired the Ir connection up on the mobile and ...
there goes the little bas...d!
The phone got recognised immediately even if I even hadn't done any setting into MPM. All I had to do then was launch Xtnd and all my data were synced on the phone and Outlook. trouble free, no problem, clean and fast ....
Now, what I'd like to know is the reason why the mother.....rs at Sony Ericsson never told anyone that the only device that'd work with their software is BT or IRDA, no way to use a data cable ... I even checked the readmes that come together with the a.m. progs and it says that you can use Bt/Irda OR a data cable to sync the phone with a pc ... this thing pisses me off as I had to shell 50 Euros in order to get the cable and then another 49 to buy the Irda connector. Well, just for the fun of it I'm gonna ask Sony Ericsson for a refund! .
At least I hope that all the above will be useful for somebody else... |

I've successfully used a data cable for synching and xtndconnect. So that's statement that it doesn't work doesn't apply to my case.

My 3 different E/// and SE phones all work great with the OEM USB cable(DCU-10) and an aftermarket serial cable.
You bought the wrong cable, dude.

Hi Estor, hi all.
Well man if things were that easy the world would be a better place.
The fact is that the cable (art. BKPIKT39) I got from beKonnekt (www.bekonnekt.com) is compatible with t68i or, at least, that's what the inbox specs and the compatibility list on BK's site read.
Then again, the impression I got while browsing this and other forums is that the ratio of success in syncing t68i and outlook (or whatever) by means of a data cable and xtnd Connect/MPM is quite low. Imho what we have here is a bug on SE's phone and/or pc software that is not taken care of by the gentlemen at Sony Ericsson as, there are other means of successfully syncing phone and pc (BT and Irda). Nonetheless allow me to feel I have been ripped even if, the sums involved in the matter are fortunately very small.
I also have written SE's support a mail about the matter and, as expected, so far I got no reply at all.
