Packet Video have an authoring programme which will let you encode your own video to the mp4 format: www.packetvideo.com
However, I don't think that there is an application that will let you edit already encoded mp4 files (I could be wrong.....) I always edit my video material in Avid or Premiere, make an avi file and encode to mp4. I don't know what format your original source material is.

The best to use is quick time pro, you can export to all differetnt formats + shorten clips and add sounds if you want to!

Check out; http://www.apple.com/benl/quicktime/upgrade/

my original source is an mpg. i was just wondering if theres a way to shorten the clip by deleting unecessary stuff or to minimize the size so that it would fit into the mem stick.

go with quicktime pro. for $29.99 its the best bang for the buck by far. lots of support from apple and lots of quality in QT. plus apple is an industry leader when it comes to multimedia.

i have used pvauthor and have no complaints about that either. its a quality app. but its $59 and i dont see the added value
