IM+ Instant Messenger. Any Good? |

Has anyone tried IM+ Mobile Instant Messenger for Sony Ericsson P800 v1.0?
It claims to support MSN, ICQ, AOL & Yahoo! chat.
My girlfriend has just got a Sidekick (nice device, but it's no P800) which comes with AOL Instant Messenger, so I'd like to be able to use AIM on my P800 too. There's no demo for IM+, so I'd like some opinions before I spend my $30.
Thanks! |

IM+ requires a regular internet connection to work and a bit slow in loading and refreshing but it does let you connect to AOL, Y!, ICQ & MSN just by using your username for each of the IMs w/o any extra registration procedure. Your only problem with this is how to keep up with the conversation if the party you're talking to has a regular full size keyboard and likes to type a lot and you're just using the stylus to type |

Thanks for the info, but what exactly do you mean by a "regular internet connection". Do you mean you must have a normal ISP? |

if you can use opera through your p800 then you have no problem you can use IM+ just fine. If you can't, call your provider and see if they offer that kind of service which lets you connect to the internet, browse regular sites, download files, etc w/o using a WAP gateway [the wap gateway is what the internal browser of the p800 uses to surf through the internet]. Usually they impose a limit on this like 2-10MB before they charge extra to your regular plan. I think cingular or t-mobile is offering an unlimited GPRS service for $30/month if you happen to be in the US (This is a new service and I'm not sure if this is limited to WAP although I'm assuming it's not since it would be just plain ridiculous) |
