T316 superior to T68i? |

I don't think it is, but wanted to get a second opinion because my cellular service thinks it is.
I lost my T68i over the weekend and filed a claim with the insurance. But when I got to the store they said they could only give me a freakin' Motorola V60 because T68s aren't made anymore. I told them I want a SE phone and they said the best they could do is a T306. When I said that they should at least give me the T316, they said I could only get something comparable to my old phone and that the T316 is superior to the T68i. I walked out of there in disgust. I'm not up-to-date on cellphone technology but I'm pretty sure that the T68i is at least comparable if not better than the T316. Just wanted to hear what the experts here think before I go back and argue again. Thanks.

The t310/t316 have polyphonic ring tones and mophun games engine and the t68i has bluetooth and better pim functions but they are mostly the same. |

I think the t68i is far superior cuz is still a hiend business phone while that other 1 is a low entry model1u can argue that u need ALL the functions from the t68i.they will b forced to offer u an equivalent.

Thanks for the input, guys
Time to be off to the store again then. This time, I'm really going to grill that manager.

If you cannot get a new T68i, go for the succesor: the new T610.
T3xx phones are entry level phones without the same connectivity and PIM functions. These cannot be seen as adaquate replacements (they wouldn't be for me anyway).
It would suprise me if the T68i is no longer availible in the US, even though the production might has stopped. They are still around here in Denmark, anyway. It's maybe just the particular store?
not waiting for a T610 anymore... getting a Nokia 3650 today |

I would LOVE to get the successor
Unfortunately, the T616 isn't released yet. And even if it was, they're giving me such a hard time that I doubt they'd even agree to give it to me. Just like you, I also found it hard to believe that nobody has as T68i in stock, but I've checked every store which offers insurance claim processing that I can find and they say they no longer carry it. I absolutely agree with you that the T3xx phones don't compare, so either the customer service people there know nothing about phones or they just want to give me a hard time. The only other comparable phone that has bluetooth is the Siemens S56. They don't want to give me that one either, but I would think that it's at least comparable to the T68i. I like SE phones though so if worse comes to worse I want to at least get the T316. Although I won't be able to use my bluetooth headset anymore. I'm not going to settle for their choices of either the 306 or the Motorola V60 though. It's so insulting for them to think the V60 is a comparable phone. Thanks for your opinions. Now I know for sure that I didn't just have a biased opinion because I loved my T68i so much

Don't let them fool you! At its launch, T68i was priced twice the price of T300/T316, and if you buy one now (supposing you find one) it's still more expensive than T316.
They just try to give you a cheaper mobile to minimize their loss, but just show them the prices and ask for a comparable one
Good luck! |

I'm SOOOOO pissed off. I went to a couple different stores to argue my case but they said that it's out of their hands because the Cingular top-level executives decide which phones are comparable and according to them ONLY the T306 and the Motorola V60 are comparable to the T68i. They showed me their computer screen to prove that they were not lying. I can't wait for my contract to expire so I can cancel my service with them. I'm even considering paying the penalty fee to cancel right now because if their executives are so dumb that they can't make fair judgments of what is comparable and what is not then I don't want to give them my business. I'm meeting with one of the store managers tomorrow but I'm not optimistic that he'll do anything to help me out. A warning to all you Cingular users out there... take care of your T68i because if you lose it, you'll get a crap replacement. Their claim that if you buy insurance and lose your phone then they will give you the same phone or a comparable one is obviously pure bullshit. |

Well, there's a semi-happy ending to all this. I was finally able to get at least a comparable phone, the Siemens S56. And I say it's semi-happy because even though I got what I wanted, I still miss my T68i.
I had to argue a bit for it though. When I talked to the manager, he stilled tried to give me the V60 or the 306 and said that those were the only phones that the computer would allow him to give to me. But I was finally able to convince him that it was better for business if he would care more about the customer than about what the computer said, especially when the computer is obviously wrong. Can't wait for the T616 to be released here so I can get back to using a SE phone again. |
