Hello all...

I was wondering if anybody here knows of a place in Chicago where I can get my P800 (R1D) upgraded to the latest version??? Sony Ericsson US is pretty much useless.

My alternative is to have someone bring it back to the Philippines and have it upgraded by SESS. But I'd rather do it locally if possible.

Thanks in advance.

The only places I have seen that do it in the US are

SEUSA - based in Minnesota, pro - will do it for free, con - takes a while to get the phone back. Call customer service @ 800.374.2776 for more info

Virtual Dynamix - pro - they are quick and authorized, by SE USA, con - costs you money http://gsm.virtualdynamix.com

I finally decided to take the plunge and called Sony Ericsson (800-ERICSSON) again on 6/19. This time they were more helpful. I told them them that my P800 crashes intermittently on an almost daily basis. I just said that in case they wouldn't upgrade my device because there's no problem with it. However, it does crash from time to time and I have the "application doesn't show after you install a program so you have to reset" issue but it's bearable.

Anyway, the lady gave me a case # and told me to call 651-229-5862 to set up the service request. The lady told me to remove all loose parts from the phone, bubble-wrap it, then send it to their service center in Chanhassen, MN via trackable carrier.

I have no faith in USPS handling my precious phone so I decided to go with Fedex. Since I live in Chicago, Fedex ground cost me $5.90 (insured for $700). It's scheduled to arrive in MN on 6/24.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. I should have it back in a week or so. Now I can play around with my T68i again .

Cheers...

Ok...I received my updated P800 from SE today. I now have the following versions:

Phone: R2D
Bluetooth: R5A
Organiser (I have to get used to spelling UK style): R2B03
CDA: R4A02

The phone arrived in Chanhassen, MN on 6/24. The next day, I received a Fedex package from SE with a note saying that I forgot to take out the little flip cover (which they included in the package). Mighty nice of them. They sent the phone back 6/27 via Fedex 2-day.
The only problem I had with the service was that the tech removed my Brando screen protector and did a piss poor job putting it back in. I don't know why he/she did that since all I said was my phone crashed alot.

Anyway, I'm happy overall with their service. Aside from being without my phone for 12 days and the Brando issue, I would recommend them. And to top it off, it only cost me $6.00 (for shipping).

Cheers...
