It's not a matter of a program that can use WAP for the connection, it is the Service Providers that block messenger programs requests.

Pain in the ass.

you could try 1stwap.com
they do an instant msg you can access via orange wap ( i do) it covers msn yahoo and some others
its ok but you probably need to have it on your pc and set it up from there before using it on wap
ie get the contacts etc set up

Why your operator doesn't allow you to use instant messengers????

if you go to http://www.my-symbian.com you will fing one java MSN messenger in UIQ section of that web site. That program works with GPRS perfectly!
Try it!

Nah I tried accessing IM apps thru the 'Orange WAP GPRS' Wap Account profile but they block the ports that the programs try and access.
The only way I have found to access IM programs (and Opera, Worldmate Weather/Currency) is using the 'Orange GPRS Net' Internet Account profile.

I have used JavaMSN and it actually doesnt realy cost much to have a small conversation, def under 30kb, which is not much as on Orange GPRS 1MB=£3 or £2 if u buy in advance.
Believe me, u aint gonna get a wholeload of IMing done on the phone as the keyboard is 2 small and fiddly, and the JotPro is not quik enough. Also on the Bus u mite aswell forget it! lol

**

I have had a bit of confusion regarding their 3 month 'Free' WAP promotion. They told me WAP sites r free, then an advisor told me ONLY the Orange WAP site is free - which I told them is useless and CRAP! He told me Orange have signed a contract with Russell Grant 2 give Horoscope...hmmm...what innovation!

Also as I have the P800 the homepage that Orange have set on the phone is not a WAP page but the smartphone section of Orange. Which I dont know qualifies as a WAP page!

THEN a Wirefree Enquiry advisor told me there is a free limit of 10MB/m on that promotion and apparently 1200 wap pages = 1MB.
.....
I then asked that if I access .html pages, or like some WAP pages r actually HTML pages are formatted for the phone, but arent .wml, they said I would be charged for viewing that, but then sum other advisor else said some WAP pages mite not look like WAP pages but are actually HTML, but that they r free.....Confused??!! So am I!

Y cant some1 just tell me for example that if u connect thru the GPRS WAP Account, then its free (I assume it is, dont quote me) and if u connect thru the GPRS Net Account, then u get charged. Simple as that! But they make it so hard 2 understand! :-S

I am STILL kinda unsure....any1 care 2 spell the truth in BLACK AND WHITE?

I have spoke to about 5 different people at orange and they have all told me different things.

How I understand the pack to work is that as long as you connect using Orange GPRS Wap then you have up to 10MB.

I have been charged in the past and I called orange and complained as the original adverts only claimed - unlimited free browsing therefore if i get charged for browsing the they are in breach of contract in my first month i had about £25 credited back and about £17 in the second.

Just be polite to the Customer servive guy but be firm.
