Here's the story. Tried my mom's T39m that she bought from globe and I loved it. Found a T39mc in Hong Kong for less than P 9,000.00 and grabbed it. I realize when I get home to Manila that the T39mc has no T9 dictionary. Luckily my mom doesn't use predicitve text so we switch phones (i keep the black case of course).

Anyway, been trying to get my GPRS going for the past 5 days and I just can't seem to get it working. I've called Globe everyday, twice a day to have it activated and they say to wait a few hours. They forwarded me to GlobeNet and they still can't figure out the problem. They said I have to help them trace whether it's the phone, the settings, or the network by trying my sim on another phone and vice versa. I tried it on the t39mc and still no GPRS. What's the deal?

When I check the phone status by using the slider it says "GPRS: GPRS Not allowed" after a few hours it says "GPRS: No access".
My SW version is R2M and the T39mc's is R3A. Should I get a firmware upgrade?
Are the settings that globe gives correct? I've read all the past threads and the settings are all the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS Anyone know how many words are allowed to be saved in the T9 dictionary? Doesn't it suck how Nokia's T9 does apostophes automatically and ericssons doesn't.

First of all, welcome to ESATO!

The R2M is kinda old (though my R2G is older) but that shouldn't be the issue. You can have the firmware upgraded from SMARTNET or SEMICON, just search the thread for contact info of said companies.

I have the ff questions:
* Have you verified that you have GPRS access?
* Do you see the GPRS icon on your phone? The thing above the network signal.

I'm also using a T39 and a Globe user.

Oops. I forgot to answer your other questions:

If you wonder about the settings that Globe gave, check out the Globe GPRS settings thread for T68. Same configurationa applies.

This thread is actually redundant, coz the T39 and T68 is functionally the same.

Nope, no new icon on the phone since i've asked them to activate GPRS. I didn't even know there was supposed to be one.

Planning to go to Smartnet later to upgrade firmware but i'm sure that's not the problem

Yup, I,ve read the past t68 threads and they're the same as what globe gives out. I've entered the settings more times than i can count. I memorized them na nga.

@arnoldc
yeah that's right. and even in places that have GPRS signal, you can't access the network.

it looks like SMART has even better GPRS coverage, while GLOBE is limited to metro manila and some surrounding provincial areas
