You probably can in some way but there's really no point. When you send a smiley, you don't actually send the grafic but you send :-) for instance. If you send it to another P800 or T68 or whatever, the phone replaces it with its internal smileys |

[Serge] is right.... Even if you create a smiley other phones wont see it |

but if you could change them by maybe putting a custom graphic in a directory, then you could get all of your friends to do the same and voila.
Pardon my French!!

well, the smileys are stored in a file called "smileys.mbm" somewhere in the System\Data directory on the Z Drive. Its an "animated gif" type thing with all the simlies. Maybe you can create your own Smilies.MBM file in the C:\sysdata directory, and see how it goes? Though dont blame me if yoru phone crashes/smokes etc!
Oh, and you cannot "add" to the the list of smilies, only replace what is already there, so maybe you wanna use the MSN smily icons in yr P800? get a scren cap proggie and try!

Why use a screen cap proggie when 99.9% of the worlds pc's if not 100% of them have "Print Screen". Just click on print screen and then paste it into "ms paint". After that you cut out the smiley with the scissor in ms paint.. and then File - New... dont save.. paste and voila or how you spell it. You got yourself the smiley you just cut out. Now save it to jpg and then rename it to whatever you like.

No it's not ok
I'd use photoshop too or anything else but ms paint.. even GIMP! But I don't like gimp... anyway. Use whatever prog you like. As long as you can paste the screen cap into it.

The test was done and the results are in....
I copied the smilies.mbm to my pc and extracted all of the images from it. I then changed the first image ( ) and rebuilt the smilies.mbm file. I put the new file in both my c:\system\data and d:\system\data directories. Rebooted my phone just for good measure and then composed an sms.
The smilies drop down still contained the original smilies...oh well

@kearnage
Thought you were going to say you when you turned it back on your P800 locked up, it stole all your credit card details and posted them on the net for anyone to use, it then used its bluetooth to scan for orbiting satellites and launh nuclear missles on russia thus starting WW3...
but you didnt.

What I meant, was that I would like to make some kind of executable (how is that spelling?) file which I can send to my friends so they can have same smileys as me.
Or just a file so they canreplace there own smileys. But some kind of exe is easier. |
