P800 with Laptop via Infrared problems |

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Laptop and Im trying to use my P800 with GPRS to connect to the internet on my laptop.
I turn on infrared on the P800 with "modem" mode on, and the laptop picks up that the phone is within range. However, I simply cannot get the laptop to connect, it always either times out completely when trying to connect or will give a modem error. Does anyone have any ideas what I can use to try and fix the problem?
Thanks! |

jimcarter- you are not alone. I have the same problem. My laptop says that P800 is within range but then nothing happens. I have been trying to isolate the problem- it works well with my T68i and T39. I tried to reinstall the PC suite and even the newer version but nothing changed. All this happened after my upgrade to R2D- not sure if it has something to do with it. |

Im not sure if it has anything to do with R2D cos I have tried another P800 which doesnt have the latest firmware yet still doesnt work with my laptop |

It used to work with my laptop. The problem only started after the upgrade. Again, I'm not sure if there is any correlation. Maybe a software conflict or something. By the way, i'm also using a Toshiba laptop. Have had to buy a bluetooth usb adaptor because of this so that I can sync while in my office. |

jimcarter- think I figured it out. First, I reinstalled the PC Suite- though I am not sure if this has any bearing at all. Click on the "phone connection link" icon at the bottom right. The "link properties" will be pulled up. "Select the ports on which you want phone connection link to search for your phones" In my case, I noticed that the last option which happened to be INFRARED in this case was not checked. I simply checked the box and now after 2 months I can use my laptop infrared with my P800. |
