With a P800 (any phone really) and an iPod this might work - If I had one this is what I would try...
P800 - get the stereo FM radio handsfree (HPR-20 I think)
iPod - get the Griffin iTrip FM transmitter
I pretty much always have my ipod with me - could plug in the FM handsfree to the P800, tune the iTrip to a free FM channel, same channel for the handsfree - then hit play on the iPod keep it in the same room, coat jacket, bag etc then you wont be hindered by the lack of memory on the P800. Will leave all that memory to be put to better use - means also you wont need to convert your mp3s to oggs!
Now all i have to do is get a P800 |

Errrr.... this might seem a bit stupid by why don't you use the ipod to listen to your MP3s instead of having to use an FM Tuner.
Seems like a lot of hardwork when you could just simply listen to the iPod.
Although I like your idea. |

Fair point ... and you are right - it is easier to just listen to the iPod. In my situation at work (have to use earphones to listen to music - bloody open office plans) I thought it might be a good solution - beats having to take the earphones out/off each time the phone rings (seems too often for my liking) . So this way I can just forward my desk phone to the mobile, leave the iPod playing and when a phone call comes in the handsfree automatically cuts out the music (obviously it wont pause it though)
Maybe also I am just a bit lazy and like the idea of convergence (manufacturers haven't seemed to get it yet though!) |

Hehehehe... I get your point and you're in luck! I saw this thing on TechTV's website... it's made just for the iPod and a mobile phone!
It's a stereo headset, with mic... and it has 2 plugs... one goes into the iPod, the other into your mobile phone... it mutes the iPod when a call comes in. |

I think you're just better off using the ipod, the sound is WAY better and there is way more room.. Its not much bigger than the p800 either..
Go Away or I will replace you with a very small shell script. |
