T610 Modem settings |

Hi,
Does anyone know how to configure a T610 with a PDA?
What init strings etc are necessary?
I did have my T68i working perfectly with my Sony Clie over Bluetooth, but the T610 will not work with the same settings. I can establish a BT connection fine, but the phone never connects to the net. It also works well with windows as a GPRS modem.
Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks,

I use an ipaq rather than a clie but can confirm that I set my T610 up exactly like my T68i and it all worked first time.
Does it attempt to dial? do you get the dialogue on the phone that says "connecting" and shows a progress bar?
Do you get any error message?

No, i get a BT connection, but the phone never says "connecting" as it does with my laptop, or as my T68i did.
What init string are you using?
Thanks,

I've never needed init strings on any pda that I have dialled out from since my first palm.
I just upgraded the firmware on my ipaq 5450 (now v1.11 released today if anyone is interested) and had to redo all my settings and again it paired and dialled out first time.
You are sure you are using the dialling string
*99***n#
where n is the CID of the data connection settings that connects to the internet as opposed to the one that connects to WAP?
for example, on my phone which is an unbranded T610 I use vodafone's home page to SMS me the settings for vodafone live. It created CID=1 for WAP and CID=2 for internet so I use the dialling string
*99***2# to connect to the internet from my ipaq.
Not sure any of that helps but it might trigger something in yourself or someone else who can help.
good luck!

I am using that dialing string also, but for some reason it won't work.
Thanks for all your help, though.

Same problem here. My Clie can dial via bluetooth to a R520, a T39 and a T68i but not the new T610. And the same T610 would respond to dialing over Bluetooth from a Tungsten T and my 2 other desktop computers. The only combination that does not work is the T610 and the Clie. Or more precisely the MS Bluetooth stick: I've tried it on a NX and a NR and still no luck. Anyone with a NZ or TG?
All other bluetooth functions (game & ringtones uploads, etc) are OK. And the Clie can dial the T610 over IR.

Hey I have the same problem with Clie NX70V and T610..
Error message encoutered :
"Service Connection Progress
Error:Serial:line error (0x0306)"
I had no problems at all with the NX70 and a P800 using BT. And T610 works fine on my Sony C1MSX laptop via BT..
Hope someone figures this out. |

On the top of the phone, next to the power button. |

Hi Folks
I assume that you have already gone to the Prefs->Bluetooth menu and done a ADD device and have that sync.
You next need to do the following below...
Some comments. I got my Clie NZ90 to work with BlueTooth and T610.
You need to Prefs->Connections->Sony BT to GSM.
Then click edit, then click on the Device.
The Clie will initiate a search for the T610 (which needs to have its BT turned on). Once found, the modem will work.
I believe the Sony BT to GSM needs to tie to a particular phone type, that's why the additional step...not exactly user friendly on the Clie.

What settings did you use on the Tungsten T under preferences / communication/connection? I tried the T68 and 'gsm phone' both did not work, while the Tunsten could dial trough a Siemens S55.
Thanks in advance |

I have not tried to use BT to connect gprs but I am writing the infrared connection settings, maybe it will help.
T610 - Ipaq infrared gprs connection
T610 side:
First make sure that you gprs settings are working and you are able to browse wap sites using your phone. Then;
menu > connectivity > data comm. > data accounts > new account > select gprs data > type "net" as the name of connection > for APN name type "internet" > leave blank both "username" and "password" > save the setting > select the "net" account from the menu and note down the CID number of it.
Pocket pc side:
First make sure that your dialing location settings are correct. To check this,
Start > settings > dialing locations > dialing patterns > just type "G" for local dial, long distance and international patterns.
then the connection part,
Start > settings > connections > select new from the top dropdown box > type "net" as setting name > select modem > type "internet" as connection name > select "generic irda" as modem > set the baud rate to 57600 > press "advanced" button > press the "name servers" button and type the dns numbers that you will learn from your gsm operators' support > press ok > press next > type *99***CID# for the number (remember the CID of your t610 connection that you have just created. for example, if your CID is 5, the number to dial is *99***5# ) > press next > un check the "wait for a dial tone" then save and exit.
now you will be able to connect via infrared.
