2. If i get the fax facility activated on my Sim..then is there any fax software available to send the Fax from my phone itself. and similarly receive also??
3. If i want to connect my phone to computer and then send fax using my laptop's installed software Winfaxpro10.0??? CAN i do it? which cable to use to connect to laptop..the same one provided in the box(the desktop stand) or any other.
I am mailnly interested in sending and receiving FAX on my Phone itself.

@sanmenthol

1. A modem yes.. but not a Fax/modem

2. No, for the time being it seems that it is not possible

3. No, you can't do that either

Basically, the P800 does NOT support sending\receiving faxes in any way or form.. You can use one of the email to fax services..

some of the websites on net advertise p800 as aphone which cn send and rec3eive faxes as well.
I think the built in modem can send faxes if a proper software is available! what is the use of PDA -if only to be used foe data connetions and not fax connections with the modem.

other sites might be misled.. check SE's site and you will not find any mention of FAX.. even if the hardware does support fax, and i hope it does, SE does not mention anything about it.. if you don't trust me read the manual of the P800

(p. 166):

"Your P800 does not support fax transmission. Even if your operator
subscription supports fax transmission, fax calls will be rejected."

or email SE and ask them about it

also, for the time being, other parties can NOT write software apps for the p800 that supports fax because the required DLLs are missing from the p800.. check this thread with official SE reply

I hope that this is enough info

hi all

in advance: maybe I'm wrong

BUT

If you define - by string - an analogue or V.110 ISDN 9.6 kbs CSD modem at your PC ( standard 19.2 kbs modem, max. speed 9.6 kbs, bla, bla, bla ) you can send faxes with any fax sw ( I tried it with Winfax Pro 10.0 ) and it worked at Pannon GSM - hungarian provider - network. Receiving faxes wasn't tested...
If you define analogue data transmission it will use speech channels not data...

Hi
Why not sent and receive faxes through your email facility on your P800 ? you can do it with your PC.. plenty of suppliers out there.. http://www.swiftnet.co.uk is only one of them who allow you to send and receive your faxes through your email application.. The person sending you a fax would send it as normal to your fax machine (think you may have to have a new fax number) then it is re routed to you email address as an attachment, works well on the PC, yet to try it on the P800, should enable you to forward faxes easily on the P800 just like sending an email, but not sure about the ability to read the incoming attachment, the only problem i can foresee is that the P800 needs a veiwer to read typical 'Tiff' files as the faxed documents are received as an email attachment in 'Tiff' format.

Any one tried this ??

Is there a veiwer out there for reading 'Tiff' files
