The SPV is pretty rubbish I've heard, it doesn't do nearly as much as the P800, but I haven't used one, so don't take my word for it.

Is it true that the spv can play any mediaplayer formats?
unlike the p800 which can only play mp4 videos.
Also the spv can take uptp 512mb sd card, p800 can only take upto 128mb.
Can any spv users confirm this? |

Hi there, I work in a LINK mobile phone retail outlet and we have an SPV demo model for demonstrating to customers.
I currently own a P800 and think its amazing. I have played about with the SPV on many a occasion and think it pants compared to the P800.
If you like, you can go into a LINK store and ask for a demonstration of one. And then just say thanks very much and leave!!!
Dont say I told u that though!!
But I would not go for one anyway! |

A mate has an SPV and to be honest the P800 pi$$es all over it. The CPU 132mhz compared to the P800's 156 - but the P800 is much faster, doom for example runs way better.
Microsoft OS on the SPV is quite nice, but not as versatile as Symbian on the P800. The screen is also smaller - but probably slightly sharper.

Oh and yeah the SPV has a video player on it. Pretty sure its real player that it uses but its still a s*&% phone compared to the P800 |

i would make sure you have a look at the updated spvx before you make a decision. apparently the processor is faster, the buttons bigger, etc ... |

I just feel the p800 is too big and that the movie conversion is a lot of hassle, if the spv plays any media format, it must be impressive.
If the p800 was a little bit thinner, i would love it & probably marry it !! |

I have had a shot of the new SPVi when an Orange Rep came in with it and it was slightly better than the SPV but nothing to rave about. I still think the P800 is a much better piece of equipment by miles.
Personally, I dont feel it is that big and to be honest, it aint that heavy either |

I just feel like the SPV takes like 10 minutes to start up. The operting system is typically microsoft. It is nice with some great details, but slow and buggy. At the time I tried it it froze 1 time, had to hard reboot, and one time I thought it was dead but woke up after 1 minute..... My p800 was laughing in my pocket. The obvious disadvantage of the OS is that it's the first version. It has a nicer screen but on the 2 I saw there was dust underneath it. They both had to send it for a fix.
But it has good points. Many colors on screen, and i think it supports DivX (?)
I would clearly stick to my P800

I checked our demo model and the video player it runs on is Windows Media Player for Pocket PC and the demo video on it is slightly less better quality that the demo video on the P800.
STICK WITH THE P800!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! |

Having seen how Orange have bastardized my P800, I can only dread to think how bad the SPV would be being completely Orange, AND it runs Microsoft .......aaaaaargh !!!!
I understand you could only install certified software on the SPV MK1, don't know if this still applies to the new model. Worth checking out ....
I've had my P800 for 3 months and it still amazes me. It blows all other smartphones away. I looked at the SPV and MANY mobile sales people tols me to avoid it like the plague due to software and OS issues (surprising for Microsoft). Many of these bugs are probably sorted in the new firmware. I do like the style of the SPV though, pretty nice ...

yeah i try and avoid selling the SPV to people who are looking for that and Oranges GPRS prices are expensive so I always try and sell away from Orange so i dont have to tell people about how crap it is and how they will always be back with software problems!!
I only have to sell it if someone specifically comes in and asks for it!!
BUT IT DOES EARN ME A LOT OF COMMISSION!!! HEHE!! |
