Anyone tried one of these before?

They've one for the SonyEricsson phones. Seems like a rather good solution to me when you're stuck in some out of the way place with no power.

They're a great idea, if only they worked! I bought one from iwantoneofthose.com for last weekend when I went to the Download Festival! You can wind for 10mins but it has no real effect on the battery power!

tried a similar product on my T39m. worked fine, would be a bit of a pain if someone rang and you were charging, you might have to wind a bit faster to compensate for the extra power drawn from the battery. would sound like you were making a call while on a Honda 50 moped going up a steep hill
the one I used had an led light on the front which lit up if you weren't charging your mobile so you could use as a torch. didn't try it out in the dark to see how good it was. it was some freebie a mate got from a rep so I don't know where to buy that type. it also had other connections for other less popular mobiles like nokia ect. I just have a spare battery from my T28 in my wallet and swap them about when needed. less hassle than caring around a sidewinder.

We are the US manufacturers of this product. The post from al1307 about it not working and purchasing the product at iwantoneofthose.com is not our product.
Ours puts out over 1/2 amp of power, and WILL charge your phone, guaranteed. It is also safe as there is a patented circuit inside it to make sure it puts out good power. Some of the knock-offs will actually damage your phone!
If you have any questions please email us. Check out www.sidewindercharger.com for more info, and beware of the look-alike products out there. |

I bought one of these from p800er.com. It arrived on Fri and I took it with me this weekend when I flew from LA to Detroit. I only played with it though, as I also took my normal charger and used that in the hotel, but it did seem to work. I put 4 mins of talk time in to my friend's T68i which had been completely dead (although I then just charged in on my AC charger).
It seems pretty cool to me. The only strange thing is the resistance to winding changes after a while and I'm not sure if this signals that you should stop cranking, or what. |

Little Jon,
The resistance changes at first on some models as the phone senses it is receiving charge (for instance, Nokias pulse 3 times before charging is allowed 100%).
The resistance will increase when the phone is accepting charge. You can feel that you are powering the phone.
www.p800er.com is an authorized reseller, so you are getting our product. We support any sales, so if you have any questions feel free to call us 1-800-IST-6565 9-5 MST and we can walk you through any questions on charging your phone with the SideWinder.
