As title...
Any software out there that can extract the pics onto the pc using the standard cable? (I can hear a big 'NO' coming along...) |

I need the same software, I'm amazed it's not available?! |

I am desperate for this software too - having a compatible RS232 cable left over from my T65. I do not have IR or bluetooth on my computer, and don't want to have to MMS all my taken pics. My T65 used to have a programme called My Pictures, which whilst being basic, did allow upload of pics from phone to PC. I think, however, if you have the USB cable, you can transfer pictures from T610 phone to PC as if it were an external drive - at least that is what is suggested by the SE website (please correct me if I'm wrong). |

This is a quote from t-six-ten.com..
"And a combination of methods makes it possible: Bluetooth™, Infrared or USB. Simply connect your T610 to your computer and you can drag and drop images just like any other digital camera. You can even transfer images to your 'My Pictures' photo album on Sony Ericsson's Fun & downloads"
I can't test this because I don't have a USB cable. I sure can't do it with the RS232 cable. Interestingly under accessories at the UK SE website for the T610, only the RS232 cable is listed, and not the USB one.

How hard can it be to extract the pictures from the phone? It's just a bunch of 1's and 0's!?!
If it can be done with the phone book etc, why not the pics? |

Maybe they figured it would be to slow?
Guess I have to get myself that Bluetooth dongle anyway... |

Not wanting to be cynical, but manufacturers and service providers probably don't want you to be able to upload pictures from phone to PC easily, as it does not provide them with revenue. They would much rather you send an MMS! |

Indeed, but if you have 100's of pictures (memory permitting) you won't want to send each and every one. I probably won't send any in the lifetime of this phone and only use it to store images of good times and caller id's.
Extraction shouldn't be such a problem! Bluetooth it is then... |

I transfer files (midi, sound, pics, games and themes) via bluetooth on Mac OS X and it worrks pretty fine. Average speed is 3-4 kB/s.

Is there an answer to this problem, the T610 camera is pretty useless if you can't keep the photos (i.e. on pc) without paying 35p each photo in order to send them.
Please someone develop so software to upload my photos from camera to pc, this is 2003 after all. Keeping the thread alive |

Why don'y you just get a cheap IR or bluetooth dongle and it will solve all your problems. Its clear (and has been since at least T68) that you cannot do this by cable for whatever reason.
I got my kids a cheap USB IR adaptor from ebay for 14.50 pounds. surely that will be a quicker way to solve your problem that waiting for this software that probably will not happen?

@masseur:
I was impressed by the speed improvement with T610. Via my IrDA dongle the whole phonebook (about 200 numbers) transffered about 3-4 times faster than while having my T68i connected.
I can see that T68i has only "push object" service available via BT, but T610 has a lot more, incl. "file transfer" and "imaging".
Do you know if the first one means that you can actually *request* a file from the phone. I would really preffer to be able to operate with the phone as a standard "Local Disk" or "Removable Disk" device in My Computer folder. I believe it is only a matter of software (drivers).
Siemens S55 has this (virtual of course) folders - why won't T610 be able to handle it - it is a much "sofisticated" device!

@ dean
You can browse the T610 folders from a PC via bluetooth. You can see the Images, Sounds, and Themes folders on the phone. And then copy a file with drag-n-drop from the pc to the phone or from the phone to the pc. It works perfectly. Just click on the Phone in Bluetooth Neighbourhood and on the + sign of the paired T610
Oh, and I almost forgot, you can browse the "Bluetooth Exchange Folder" (on your PC) from the phone (yes that's right FROM the phone ). And just click on a file with the joystick to download it to the phone.
