I used iSync with my Mac today and lost all the contacts on my phone. I have been struggling to restore a backup to my phone, as it keeps giving me an error message 2/3 of the way through.
There are MANY reports on the Apple website about p800 users losing their phone data when syncronizing-- I urge you to wait until the problem is fixed before even attempting...

HA!
I ignored this warning and knew my trusty Powerbook 17" (after the bluetooth update as well) would work fine with isync 1.1. And of course it did, although a couple of important contacts were deleted/moved about.
Anyway, today I thought - well, I better do a full backup so fired up the Windows XP box i have dormant on my desk, and did the backup, all worked fine. I thought, while i'm at it, i'll do a sync with outlook. Seemed to all work fine.
I then go to do something on my phone, and well look at that. I open contacts, i get an error msg saying "Information Corrupt" and the app closes - all my contacts have disappeared! I don't know whether this has been covered in a previous windows thread (I don't monitor them obviously) but just like to put my vote in for isync working fine and windows being stupid!! wohoo!!
lol...
Anyway, currently letting the restore do it's work - was considering letting isync sync back to it but thought a restore was safer. And of course the lesson is to backup, esp when you're working with windows !! haha. no of course with a mac too...but anyway.
The end of my story. You can go now. |

Glad it worked for you.
I have a 17" Powerbook with all the latest software (as do you, apparently) and I was not so fortunate. By posting, I was simply trying to warn people about a possible problem that has affected MANY people, as reported on the Apple message boards.
Even with many archived backups, it still took me a while to fully restore my phone.
