3com BT |

My first post and I'm desperate for ideas. I am having massive problems with a 3com BT PC card, a Fujitsu Siemens tablet pc, and the infamous P800. I've been using the phone for a couple of months now with a vaio and bluespace with no problems. Also tried it with the Toshiba BT stack and after a bit of fiddling got the lot working. 3com is proving more difficult. Has anyone had problems installing the BT modem and getting it working with a 3com card? I'm starting to think it's the tablet itself but based on the problems I and others have had with 3com it may be worth trying another adapter. |

I've got the same problem.
Iv'e got a 3com bluetooth pccard together with a IBM r40 thinkpad.
Is far is I know the only way to make it work like IT SHOULD! is updated drivers which would fix the problem, and that brings us to the second problem. THERE ARE NO UPDATED DRIVERS...
So help me on this. Spam 3com. Make them fix this!
Iv'e sent about 5 e-mails so far!

Yeah I have tried that and it did not work for me! He said it worked good for him. But really if there is no conflicking ports and then he changes it to no conflicking ports I cant see how it worked. But it worked for him like I said and not for me!
any other ideas.

Sure you can use the modem driver for a "Modem" Connection but you can't use the modem driver to make a serial connection! |

Still having a mare with 3com. Tried Billionton drivers but still no luck. I tried installing it on my work Dell LS laptop but wouldn't run at all. Tried messing with the IRQ assignments but had to restore after a few goes. The tablet is proving to be more of a problem. BT SW installs ok and runs as long as I don't install P800 SW first. When I try and tell the phone connection link which ports to use it complains for the first few goes and then finally works. But then the 3com BT SW won't work!!!!
Anyone recommend a good BT PC card? |

Dell bios is not 100% compatiable with CLONE, so dont expect Dell machines will always works as the others. Sometimes Dells require special setting in the order to get something to work.
I would say according to your complaint, just play around with it, then you will be able to make it work.

Working on the Dell at last but very flakey. I got the weekend to sort out the others so should be fine. And has anyone heard the music that plays on the startup screen for 3com BT installer?? Very Enter The Dragon. |

I agree. 3Com BT does work, but not to the level at which I can give it to a user and expect no problems. We tried doing that last week and after a reboot the 3Com couldn't connect to the P800 without messing around with the Phone connection link settings and rebooting again.
I spent a few hours yesterday testing alternative cards in Tottenham Court Road. The nice people in Micro Anivka let me try one in two of the tablet pcs I brought in without purchasing anything (granted we will probably be buying 20 this week but nice nonetheless - PC World laughed in my face). I tried the Belkin PC Card (F8T002) and it worked first time. It creates around 10 BT COM ports, as opposed to the 3Coms 5) and once devices are paired initiating a serial connection is as simple as right clicking on the serial service and choosing connect. Bliss. Anyone thinking about buying a BT adapter, go for Belkin. Cheap and it works. |
