I had some problems initially. tried to play around with port settings in windows. Go to control panel, system, COM X (where X is port mumber, mine is 1) then turn off software flow control, enable hardware flow control. (Dont't know the correct terms in english, though). Still works fine whith Palm sync on same port.

Happened to me before. I had a defective cable. Better have yours replaced by a new one.

It got 2 type of cable :
1) service cable
2) data cable

service cable is use to Flash/unlocking the phone, Normally selled by third party company.

Data cable is use to transfer data over the phone and pc.

The setting on this 2 type is not the same.

I think the best thing to do is to get rid of ur cable and just buy an infrared device for ur comp...its much better believe me.......coz cables often have problems with the settings of comps...but with infrared...i dont experience problems at all!!!!!

buy original cable from authorized dealer. maybe the one you bought is not original.

I had the same problem. Windows would not recognize my phone.

After a lot of tinkering, and trying the datacable (and installing the sw) on another system where everything worked just fine, I realized I had a conflict that didn't show up in the system device window. I had assigned the same port to a virtual infrared device. After disabling that device everything worked great.

Might not be what you're up against, but at least it worked for me.

Good luck!
