I just got my T68i from Cingular and got my GPRS service activated. Now what? What can I do with the GPRS? What is GPRS by the way? Is there any difference between WAP and GPRS? Can I surf the web on my T68i with GPRS or WAP? Thanks for any suggestions you may have. |

you use gprs to access the internet. but your t68 only has a wap browser so you are limited to wap sites. but you can access the web thru your laptop or pda by using your phone as a modem and connecting your laptop/pda to it via ir or bt. of course you also need gprs to send/receive mms. |

you can use it to send and recieve mms messages. Depending on your service provider you may also be able to send and recieve email with GPRS.

Phil.

GPRS=General Packet Radio Service
Basically means you can send data at higher speeds than normal. |

GPRS is charged as data, independent of connect time. At least with T-Mobile. You can also wap-browse by dialup CSD and pay connect time instead of data.

IF you are very lucky (and I'm not!) you can also get your email but I have have no luck as not all ISP have a GPRS site and in which case you are forced to use the phone as a dial-up modem thereby paying per minute (watch out!).
I believe its something to do with the POP3/SMTP settings in your phone. Nyway Orange-UK have a limit on transfer size (2k I believe). |
