Hi, I'm a new owner of a P800, very cool phone indeed. I was just wondering how long people's battery life last on average???

SE quotes about 13 hrs talk time and 400hrs stand-by, I'm asuming that is with the phone with power save on,the light switched off and the non-use of any application.

Cos, my phone was charged this morning, I used it at lunch to watch a movie clip and the battery has gone from 100% to 60% !!!

Any explanation?

Battery life depends on usage. Certain apps - Communicam, the PDA functions, Audio/Video Players, ... would use more battery power if activated. Those "hrs" quoted is if all other functions were deactivated and never used, and signal conditions are near-ideal...

Well first of all, it will take about 5-10 full charges before youre battery will operate at full potential, its a lithium polymer thing.

Other than that get a program like tracker, handy day or switcher so you can check what programs are running and shut them down after you dont need them anymore. As they still use up resources even when not being used. Stupid symbian for not requiring an exit button in applications.

My phone lasts around 3-4 days with moderate usage, i dont usualy watch all that much movies or listen to music. But i do surf/check mail a whole lot on gprs probably what amounts to 1-2hrs a day, i also use bluetooth a bit at home.

I tried handy day 3.0 just now and it really drained my battery, i have no idea why so i uninstalled it.
You really have to find the stuff that sucks the battery dry and get rid of it, or at the very least close it after usage.

i think you are right about types of apps.

When I had a bad battery usage, i had installed a couple of games. IceBloxx and another, down loaded couple movies, matrix2 for example, and the battery lasted just a day.

Unstalled them and seem back to normal now. It was just that day that sort of scared me a bit. Don't wanna have a hassle of changing faulty phones.

My use for the phone is:
1-2 hrs talk time.
sometimes playing games, watching clips to pass the lunch time hour by.
A little surfing for the same reason if on the move.
So i expected good performance from the battery. But like u said, may require further charges.

I have had my P800 for just over a week now, so may still early days. only had to charge it 3 times so far...

My P800 battery lasts about 3 days with moderate use (GPRS, 20 minutes calling, some SMS and MMS). What is important to battery life is the use of the light. If for example it is switched off during the day, then I come up with 4 days battery life.
