Just hit me that maybe it is possible to release software on the EMMA server on a country per country basis by allowing the upgrade to a limited range of IMEI numbers. Anybody who could confirm this?

On another note, I made a simple survey the begining of last week (10), asking a number of SPs here in Stockholm about the release o f the new sw...all said week 10 or 11 so this will be an interresting day...

since you can lock certain releases (for example the MMS testsoftware to T68m) to specific IMEI numbers it's probably possible to have different release dates depending on IMEI numbers.

So what happens to people who have got there phones from another country or something?

Surely they dont allocate certain styles of IMEI numbers to a certain country. That would be more or less impossible to achieve.

after more thinking it's more likely uses the servicecard to separate servicepoints if they don't want everyone to have the new SW at once... The servicecard is used with the hardlock to identify you everytime you contact the EMMA server.

no service card is a special card you insert somewhere in the flashing equipment to authenticate yourself...

the servicecard (size of a credit card) is insert in a blackbox which you connect to your computer. The card contains a certain numbers of updates from the EMMA server.
