I just got my hands on the New T610, and I got to admit, looking at the box tempts me to open it,but here is the problem, I don't know if At&t supports it. I had heard on some thread around here that At&t doesn't support it yet, but I want to make sure, does anyone else in the US have the new T610, and using it in the US with At&t or another similar carrier? if I can connect it to my phone number, then it would be time to retire the old T68i.

since noone bothered to answer my question, I decided to call AT&T wireless myself, and get an answer to my question. UNFORTUNATELY, for all you AT&T wireless users who are dying to get their hands on the new T610 and use it, you won't be able to. I guess At&t doesn't support the phone, and are waiting for the T616 for users to be able to use it. So, I guess I'll have to ship my T610 back...

thats what I thought too, but it turns out they won't support it because the frequencies are of, or some BS like that, they said the T616 will be for US frequencies, and that's the only difference between the T610 and the T616. So I can't connect that T610 to their phone number, or use their sim card.

You can use any phone that has the 1900 channel and is unlocked. So as long as it is unlocked you can use it. It doesn't matter what customer care says. Now for more advanced phones like the p800 and 3650 some sim cards are to old to work. So go ahead and pop your sim card in.

The T610 will work on AT&T's netork providing that it is unlocked. The primary difference between the T610 and the T616 is this:
T610
900/1800/1900 mhz
T616
850/1800/1900 mhz
850/1900 are US frequencies. AT&T has built their network using 1900 mhz. The reason they want you to wait is because the T616 allows your phone to use 850 mhz which Cingular uses in addition to 1900 mhz. The addition 850 mhz will give you better coverage in the US and gives AT&T better roaming rates and options when you use your phone on Cingular's network as opposed to T-Mobile's. AT&T will also probably start building in the 850 mhz range also in markets where they need additional coverage and capacity. |

f**k it, I can't take it any longer, I Opened the box, and inserted my sim into it..I called At&t and told them I changed the phone, I told them it's unlocked, and that I was planning on using it with their network, they asked for some shit that was on the back of the phone, and lo-and-behold 10 minutes later I was using my T610. To bad I need to charge it...but yes! IT WORKS! I FINALLY GOT THE T610! Oh, and it also cost me $499 US Dollars on EBAY.

Any GSM tri-band phone that is unlocked from any wireless carrier can be use on any wireless carrier on this planet.Just remember here in the US we use mostly the 1900mhz. |
