Hi. I'm a french living in Qatar.
I baught last week two of your phones : a P800 and a T610.
The T610 is perfect despite a week reception. I have many problems with the P800. I installed PCsuite 1.5.1, plugged the USB craddle. But when I connect the phone nothing happen. In Mrouter, the phone is shown as connected but I can't access or synchronise. In the windows browser it is set to Not connected.
I changed my phone twice but I still have the same problem.
My laptop is running W2k.
I tried many uninstallation/reinstallation and one time, I got the window that prompts for a phone name, I could enter any name, this name was already used, and I couldn't perform any synchronisation or even browse the phone. |

I have discovered that McAfeeVirusScan7.0 will prevent you from running PCSuiteForP800_rel_1.5.1_AE on WindowsXP, even if you disable the virus scan. The only solution that I have found was to uninstall McAfee completely. PCSuiteForP800 will work on Windows98 however with McAfeeVirusScan7.0 installed.

install the driver for the cradle (DCU-11), then click on the mrouter, properties, then check USB. |

I did that too, but it didn't work! If you have MCAfee then try uninstalling it.

I finally got this working! McAffee was the culprit. Under XP you do not have to go to the extent of uninstalling. Just click Start->Run and enter "msconfig", click on services and deselect "AVSync Manager", "McShield" and or any similar. Restart and you will have a clean system to sync your p800 to.
Not ideal but its nice to know what the problem is. My thanks to the Esato community. |

USB DRIVER DSS-20 Download doesn't work either. Beleive me I have tried. The problem is McAfee7.0 on WindowsXP, and also perhaps on W2K and ME?. I have forwarded this problem to both McAfee and SonyEricsson support and we shall see if they can resolve this conflict.
In the mean time, I have removed McAfee from my WindowsXP computer and am using a competitor virus scan that works fine!!!
By the way I can still use McAfee for my windows98

Does Norton prevent it from working?

I had that problem with a P800 I've just bought on T-Mobile UK.
I would connect but not be recognised on my PC running WinXP & a Tablet PC. It was reporting an error " The database could not be opened". I even reinstalled XP cleanly, no antivirus or firewall, still did not work. The only way to access it was by using Epocware PC FileManager.
The phone had firmware R1D on it and had custom files in the C:\Custom\ folder. I was on the phone for just over 20 minutes with a SE Tech man trying to sort out the problem, could not do it.
I then took it to a SE Service Centre, R's in Tottenham, and they could not help with the problem as they do not use WinXP. But they installed the latest firmware, R2F, onto it anyway. When I got home and connected it to my PC, it worked!
The problem was most likely a faulty database on the phone that could not be opened. The new firmware wiped this file and reset the phone. One possible answer would be to get your phone's firmware updated to cure the fault. |

@Ramirez
Nope, Norton for both private end users and corporate users shouldn't have any problems. So no need to worry if you use Norton.
